More than 40 applicants

According to Kent; "The Head Coach search may be taking longer than some expected but with 40+ applicants, we are proceeding through"

Yes we’d all hope for that but seeing the names bandied around in the betting I’m not sure there will be more than a couple that will really fit the bill. Hopefully the bookies know as little as we do about who has actually put in a CV.
My opinion too. shouldn't take too long to sift out the majority who are not in with a shout. The numbers sound impressive and a useful excuse for the search to take a long time, but in reality that's just an excuse to appease the fans. Taking us for mugs.
You can't run a professional recruitment process like that though. If you work that way then you deserve all the crap that comes your way. IMHO.Tent Keague wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 8:17 pm Appreciate the need for a shortlist but something like today can come along and totally blow things out of the water.
Example:
We may have wanted Sol Campbell big time, number one first choice and all that. But Sol Campbell is teasing us along, playing us off with an offer from Southend. Then Neil Harris becomes available, Southend withdraw their offer, Sol is now back on our doorstep.
We could have been ready to tie up a deal with Kenny Jackett with Portsmouth's best wishes, who in turn want Nathan Jones with Stoke's best wishes and then the Millwall job becomes available, Jackett has second thoughts with us refuses to resign and so it goes up the chain.
I now it's all surmising but the Millwall, Stoke, Southend and Portsmouth jobs could have a big effect on what happens with us. Could we be keeping our powder dry for someone or something to happen?
Now back to the real world.Tent Keague wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 8:17 pm Appreciate the need for a shortlist but something like today can come along and totally blow things out of the water.

Orient have no chance whatsoever in getting Jackett or Anybody of that class.
Neil Harris could be interested.
I don’t think Sol Campbell will be playing silly buggers he doesn’t need a job.
If we were really ambitious he would have been in charge last Saturday.
Get real, the next boss will be one of Calderwood, Hendon, Nugent or Mcanuff.
Right hear we go with my top 6.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 9:26 pmCan we have a nailed on top 6 from you please byways.Byways1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 8:36 pmNow back to the real world.Tent Keague wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 8:17 pm Appreciate the need for a shortlist but something like today can come along and totally blow things out of the water.

Kent wants to lump on his & Nigels favourite who wont have been reported on in the press by your woeful candidate reasoning.
100k on a 20-1 shot gets him £2 million knicka back in his sky rocket.

Campbell and Calderwood are the only serious ones.
Not my six you fool.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 10:57 pmYouve had months to decide & you
come up with a list of 6 .
FFS you are only playing at it as well.
A man like you who spouts such nonsense,
should have 1 name in the frame & have him here already !!
Any fool can redact a statement to make it look like you ansewred the question .
I doubt anyone is surprised you associate with people like that.Byways1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 11:29 pmNot my six you fool.
This is the list that Ling is working to.
Sol Campbell all day long for me.
Any ambitious club would demand their DOF comes up with one name.
That’s his job, not sift through a load of CVs of which most will be idiots and time wasters.
I knew a bloke who’s hobby was applying for football managers jobs because he collected rejection letters from clubs, had 3 from the FA.
We don't have a day to day account though and we are not being told every specific detail. There's no harm in periodic updates like he is providing so we know what stage the process is and in the interests of transparency.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 5:23 pmWhy do we have to have a day to day account of the process circulated to us the publicSmendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 5:12 pmAnd now, also directly from Kent, we are down to interviews with the four standout candidates.
I really wish they would keep the whole process confidential. Do we really need to know each and every specific detail. I realise Kent means well and he loves orient but hey I am convinced it best to keep it all private
Thanks for trying , West. It would have been interesting to know who's in the frame.Top of the West. wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 5:20 pm This ^^^^^^
Told today that it will be narrowed down from four to two who will get a final interview late on this week with the owners and a probable announcement made Thurs/Fri or early the following week. tried fishing for names but didn't get any!
