Harry Kane wins the Ballon d'or
Obviously down to his O's loan spell
I guess Bayern will take the credit but we all know......

So proud that I witnessed his only ever sending off in his career at Huddersfield.

To think a former O has just won an award for the world's best men player. All down to us, of courseTop of the JES wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 10:53 pm Obviously down to his O's loan spellI guess Bayern will take the credit but we all know......

Remarkable really. Remember seeing his first pro goal but never thought he’d make the prem nevermind the best player in the world. Hard work pays off

Don’t think you need to say men. We know he’s a man.L.Orient wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 11:19 pmTo think a former O has just won an award for the world's best men player. The most un-Ballon d'Or player of the last decade or so, yet no less deserving.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 8:54 am Remarkable really. Remember seeing his first pro goal but never thought he’d make the prem nevermind the best player in the world. Hard work pays off

Agreed although Lewandowski definitely would’ve won it in 2020 but it was cancelled because of CovidProposition Joe wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 9:20 amThe most un-Ballon d'Or player of the last decade or so, yet no less deserving.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 8:54 am Remarkable really. I was there too. So many of us never thought he would be more than a decent Championship playerRich Tea Wellin wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 8:54 am Remarkable really. Remember seeing his first pro goal but never thought he’d make the prem nevermind the best player in the world. Hard work pays off

I was there too, at the end of the season I remember thinking Tom Carroll was the better prospect that we should be trying to get back again.DuvB wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 11:10 amI was there too. Re: Harry Kane wins the Ballon d'or
When he was a Spurs player I used to like winding Spurs supporters up by telling them I saw him score his first senior goal.
And, yes, I wasn't the only one who thought Carroll and M'poku were better players at that time in their careers.

Re: Harry Kane wins the Ballon d'or
Absolutely deserved. He's been particularly outstanding since he moved to the Bundesliga.
Unusually loyal for a top player bearing in mind how long he stayed at Spurs. He would have won a good many more trophies but he opted to keep playing for Spurs.

Saw the goal he scored away to P.N.E & Thats when I Knew, when you watch a clip of that header 100 plus times from an impossible angle & you're still scratching your head wondering How.FilipinO wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:03 pmI was there too, at the end of the season I remember thinking Tom Carroll was the better prospect that we should be trying to get back again.DuvB wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 11:10 amI was there too. Re: Harry Kane wins the Ballon d'or
I think everyone would have picked Carroll and M'Poku ahead of Kane based on their loan spells, but he was very decent at 17 although he needed to bulk up, I wasn't surprised to see him make it at Spurs given his ability but he proved us all wrong by going a lot further than that, England would/will be lost when he retires. Good on you Harry!EliotNes wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 1:42 pm When he was a Spurs player I used to like winding Spurs supporters up by telling them I saw him score his first senior goal.![]()

Re: Harry Kane wins the Ballon d'or
Yup he really took his physical conditioning above and beyond what anyone expected. His commitment to improvement is the model all young players should follow, well done Harry hard work pays offTop of the JES wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 4:13 pm I think everyone would have picked Carroll and M'Poku ahead of Kane based on their loan spells, but he was very decent at 17 although he needed to bulk up, I wasn't surprised to see him make it at Spurs given his ability but he proved us all wrong by going a lot further than that, England would/will be lost when he retires. Re: Harry Kane wins the Ballon d'or
He got congratulated by the PM at Question Time. The Orient got a mention too ( Is this a first? ). Something along the lines of "from scoring for Orient to winning Ballon d'Or."
