On the 31st, and it all goes disastrous, as bad as predicted. How long do you reckon it will be, before serious consequences? Weeks, months or a year plus? I could see this scenario suiting a lot of people. The Tories would be electorally finished. Or at least the likes of Moggie. The EU, would love it. Would be for ever held up as an example to other would be quitters. If we wanted to re-join, we would have to accept the Euro. So, the clock is ticking, I am not saying that disaster is gonna happen, but just supposing. How long before people would say, " hold on, this is not what we voted for"?

Depends on how well the story that "it's all the EU/Remoaners/enemy parachutists' fault" goes over.

I suspect, however, that Johnson's clear efforts to obtain a "no-deal" exit - transparent as they are, including the prorogation, will actually serve to put quite a big hole in the "it was someone else's fault" narrative.

It.depends on How long the Money promised by the Bank of England to prop the Economy up for.

Worst case Scenario would be how many people were betting on the currency run & how many gamble how much.

So much deal or no deal has already been factored in by industry and business that IMO the only change to be seen to begin with will be for those going to EU and having a long queue to get through immigration control

There is no way the people who think leaving is still a good idea are ever going to come to the realisation that actually they were better off before, no matter how grim things become for them.

I'm enjoying the naivety of the bexiters on this thread. Look it's not going to be the end of the world, but there's definitely going to be shortages in some things you're used to getting easily and inflation in others (this will be within weeks as existing stock runs out). In a time when the world is cutting to reduce their currency the ECB will be forced to raise rates and this will push up the pound, and put quite a few highly leveraged into struggle street (this will start from about 6 months). In short the rich will get richer and the poor poorer. That's pretty much the tory manifesto though so you can't argue they're not following their political ideology. That's my 2c anyway.

We do not leave with no deal, we leave on wto rules. This will only mean problems if forms are not filled out properly. It is not in Europe's interest to cause to many problems, otherwise our companies will obtain there goods from elsewhere, or the ports that are causingt he problems are changed( the dutch and Belgium ports has spare capacity if need be).

With the world now starting to look seriously as if going into recession, as per Sweden's disastrous figures yesterday, now is not the time to play games.

Jfi - Sweden is seen as a bellwether for the world economy as it has the most open trade economy in the world.

Whatever happens, the EU is in trouble financially and recession will bring lots of issues to a head.

The lights will, indeed, come on and the water will still flow. How much extra you'll have to pay for them remains to be seen.
