What has he got to do to get a game

Post by Redcard »

Shadrich ogie was everyone’s, and I mean everyone’s man of the match against southend , yet he is not even on the bench. He should be starting, and in a Defence which is leaking goals Happe should come in for one of the other defenders. Sorry , but Embleton is not for me.

Serious question..Would you play an relatively inexperienced youngster in a struggling team?

Being overrated because he played well in a game that didnt really matter against Southend's reserves.

He is clearly an outstanding prospect but we need to bring him along slowly this season.

The bigger question why not bring Sotiriou at least onto the bench. We all know Alabi won't cut it so why not give the only other pacy tricky attacker we have on the books a chance?

Everyone is inexperienced until they are given a chance, and I’ve seen ogie at least 4 times and he has been outstanding in every game. Sotouru is another overlooked. If you are good enough you are old enough.

This.

He scores a decent international goal against the Netherlands yoof and is still behind the carthorse. It makes no sense to me at all.

If you have a talented defender like Ogie as everyone says he is, then there is no reason not to give him is opportunity in a 2nd division side. The probable scenario is we could be in the bottom three pretty soon and you wont see Ogie all season for sure. It's the second division not premier or LaLiga for gods sake. This club has a history of giving young talent the opportunity to shine dont change from that or you may never see stars such as Rofe, Fisher (both full backs), Cunningham, Chiedozie, Grealish, Bart-Williams etc. Those named made debuts also at a higher level.

If Judd can’t get a game. Ogie has no chance.

I saw them play St Patricks in April and left at half time. One of the worst games of football I’ve ever seen, no wonder a 14 year old can get a game.

Ogie is not frail kid , he is a man and against a very physical southend forward he literally won everything.

That's what so annoying . Alabi offers nothing yet somebody better then him can't even get onto the bench. Anyway , if we need somebody to come on late to hold the ball up, Harrold is better than Alabi at doing that .

He is behind Happe and Judd in the pecking order and Ross is unlikely to have more than 2 defenders on the bench.

You're a nice bloke Ross but it isn't working out, do the honourable thing and stand down.

Simply cannot be worse than the four or five NL standard defenders we have. Even JE would be struggling to get them organized so what chance has a novice RE got.

He's out of contract at the end of the season.

Thinking about the long term, better to bring him along slowly and develop him than have him regularly in the team alerting scouts to his potential and lose him for a paltry compensation fee at the end of the season.

Is this the same philosophy being used for Alabi? 😅

Cripes, the thought of Alabi here after this season is petrifying. Make that the thought of him here after January...

Well then persuade him to sign a contract extension.

Right. So you think that will happen if we start playing him every week and then much bigger clubs start sniffing around and offering him contracts that he can accept. Have you thought this through?

Or we pay him to not play, on the basis he might sign a contract to not play some more as he won't have any first team experience?

It's again the dilemma of the academy. Costs a tidy sum to develop these players who leave for pennies to continue their "development" in U23 football (then back to L2 on loan a year or two later). Alternatively you take a gamble and throw them in at the deep end and see who can hack it to get half a season or so of first team value (a whole season if you're lucky) before they leave for a slightly larger fee.
