Clapton Community FC, the breakaway members club currently hoofing it in some low level tinpot county league at Wadham Lodge, have won the bid to return to The Old Spotted Dog in Plaistow. Talks continue before contracts will be signed.

Owners Heineken Sat Pubs division chose them over...Clapton FC - who were turfed out for non payment of rent and are stuck at Avely - & Hackney Wick FC (who were sharing with Clapton at TOSP last season before also getting kicked out due to McBean’s latest dirty work and - I think - using Haringey Boro’s Coles Park). I wonder if Clapton FC will fold now and Clapton CFC claim their history/league spot...

Other NE London non-league news: Leyton Athletic (formerly Wadham Lodge: confused yet?) have also recently folded.

A lot of people I played with when I was younger turned out for Clapton so it would be a shame to see the linear club die, but it is a real mess what has gone on there.

Middlesex County League, which is only 2 below Essex Senior. Not that low level! They'll be among the promotion challengers this season too.

Wick are now groundsharing with Haringey Boro at Coles Park, yep. They were meant to use the Marathon Community Track last season but that fell through - not sure if it was an issue with grading requirements.

Athletic folded as they were unable to find a groundshare, but also the club didn't have a pot to piss in. Truth be told they've fallen victim to a nutter of a chairman who expected promotion to the Isthmian League (and beyond) with absolutely zero budget.
