Re: Sam Gyimah
I'd be inclined to reserve judgement on that until one sees who wins Gyimah's East Surrey constituency come the next election.

I doubt he’ll be the last one to switch before a GE, but like most of the other defecting Tory & Lab centrist sensibles, it will be a struggle to retain that seat for the Libs under fptp.

Re: Sam Gyimah
What amazes me is that the politics of the lib dems are so different to the Tories, how can anybody justify changing parties. It is as if you have changed your ideology.Disoriented wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 7:51 am Another rat deserts the sinking ship which is the SS Tory Party.
Fantastic to see,
However, many of these politicians are deciding that there view on the EU is more important than the politics they supposedly believed in. Which shows how shallow they are.
The other point which has been shown up, is just how weak (intellectually and a broad base of experience) our politicians are compared to previous generations.

Re: Sam Gyimah
Hmm. Obviously they are on different sides of the EU issue these days, but otherwise jumping from Blue to Yellow Tories isn’t so great a leap. I’ve always felt both one-nation Tory types and Blairites would be better suited to the Libs, but because of FPTP have plumped for the the Parties most likely to win seats and give them a career.

Undoubtedly, but what is clear is that the Lib Dems have real momentum building up with a clear policy. That and ditching Vince.

See whether that momentum applies to the electorate ..but if Lib Dems dont win at election they will claim seats anyway as their current policy seems to me to be ignore the wishes of the votersDisoriented wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 10:02 amUndoubtedly, but what is clear is that the Lib Dems have real momentum building up with a clear policy. Re: Sam Gyimah
So many Tories are defecting to the Lib Dems, the Lib Dems are becoming more right wing, and look a bit like the moderate tory party now.
The real Tory party is left with the really hard right wing types now. Wonder how many tory voters will continue to vote for these hard right tories now. I suspect most will.
This country is slowly lurching towards fascism little by little IMO

There is nothing I said that is wrong.
The Lim Dem policy is to oppose the Implementation of the result of the democratic vote.
