Sure Angol was a bit fortunate in how he got the ball, but confident if he gets service he will be a better finisher than Bonne.
Soft and needless penalty, almost as if the ref was gagging to give it.
Can't help feeling Brill should have done better with the goal, not a quality hit and from far out, almost like he was unsighted by their player. Poor play as well to give their man a free cross. Ling sees the man inside and then gets caught ball watching.

Soft and needless sums it up. There was a bit of contact initially and then a few seconds later their player just goes down. But why did Josh even give the ref the opportunity to give a pen. The player was on the edge of the box and others were back too.

This. Daft from Coulson trying to tackle a man from behind in the box in the 93rd minute. He wasn't scoring from there and we had enough bodies back to defend the ball across.
For me it's a pen - there's contact and he hasn't played the ball. But as you say he shouldn't have given the ref the opportunity in that situation.

Good to see Ling and Brill covering themselves in glory for the first. Widdowson also poor and what was Coulson thinking for the pen.

Angol is a totally different player to Bonne, it’s nonsense to compare them. They both have entirely different qualities. They would have made a fantastic partnership but hey ho.

He was definitely in with a chance of scoring there. Coulson had to try and win the ball, his mistake was getting turned in the first place.
But the main problem is not defending from the front. Their centre half has all the time in the world to put a decent ball into the channel to stretch Josh. If Bonne was with us, that ball doesn’t get played in like that.

Bit harsh on Ling. It’s not as if he’s standing around doing nothing, someone could have covered him.
No comment on Deano. It’s pretty much a goal a game this season.

Maybe you’re right but if a winger has that much time and space to get a cross in from the left, you’ve got to look at your full back.
Worried about Brill, although twitter made it sound like he made a couple of good saves.

Brill's conceded a couple of soft ones this season, sure, but he's made a lot of great saves too. Issue is opposition are getting too many opportunities to test him. The defence seem really leaky as a unit this season. Hoping that tightens up but just not sure what the best 2 out of 3 is, they all seem prone to gaffes, but this is L2 after all. Hopefully Happe's family issue isn't too serious and he's back soon, feels like he's best of the bunch.

Ling rightly tracks the 22. It’s Marvins man that stays out there.

Nah, it’s not the defences fault. Brill is a great shot stopper if it’s at him, his reflexes are still top notch. It’s just he hasn’t got the mobility any more.

Got to get tighter for the first goal. We had a warning in previous clip. Dubious penalty at best.

Pity that Ling and Brill are taking the usual stick tonight, Ling had a very steady game today and made some good clearances and Brill made three very decent saves to keep us in it, our problem was we didn't work hard enough to stop crosses coming in and Exeter put some great balls into our box .
Coulson got turned and his feet in a tangle for the penalty and it was 100% the right decision. The Exeter crowd though were whining from early on frustrated with their team and we battled away well for a point, If all fit we should play the same team and formation Tuesday and try and get a bit more continuity into our play, It was a good point today.

Coulson seems to becoming a liability , as good as he was last season he seems a yard slower in this higher division and i feel he has cost us 2 or 3 conceded goals .

Looks like Coulson was also involved in a slight bit of shirt grabbing before his feet caught the Exeter forward. Shirt tugging, putting your arm around a forward to hold him back etc is a penalty if done by a player from the the defending side in the the penalty area.
Penalties can be given for the slightest of things nowadays.

It is obvious that this is a league too far for Brill. He has been an excellent servant for the club these past few years but it is now time to say ‘Thanks’ and get rid.

Looked like Dennis didn't track back enough to stop scorer of first.
Penalty looked very soft & avoidable. Was an encouraging result & performance judging on comments.

Liability seems a bit strong but my first choice would be Ekpitata & Happe. Both young, fit & did well together in a back 4 several times before.

Have to agree with this. Coulson has been a standout player for us in the NL but doesn't seem to have raised his game as yet.
Maybe he is being given different instructions from last year, but it is becoming a concern.
Brill is an odd one, a great close shot stopper, but regularly beaten from outside the box when you'd think he'd do better. I think I'm agreeing with RedO that it's a mobility thing.

The persistent theme is a lack of pressure on the ball.
The first clip, Wright wins the header in the six yard box and the ball gets hooked out to the wing. No one else goes out to the player, Wright himself has to head out there.
Their first goal, no one is anywhere near the crosser again. JMD doesn’t want it enough and gets beaten to the ball. The shot isn’t great but Brill isn’t agile enough to dive anymore.
The second goal, Wilkinson isn’t pressing the ball enough. He’s fresh so has no excuse of being tired, he needs to be working harder. If we still had Bonne, that ball isn’t played down the line, it would have gone back to the keeper.
Bit of luck in both goals for sure but Angol is class in both of them.

Coulson wasn't a good player for Cambridge in the League, hence why he ended up with us. He's serviceable at this level, but he can be improved. Most people seem to underestimate the gap between League and Non-League and it's disappointing we've given out poor contracts and not really gone in to improve the squad. Just looking at the squad make ups of teams who come up; teams who struggle keep players, teams who do well bring in key additions. For the record, it is a penalty, Coulson comes in from behind and hits his leg; in what world is that not a pen?!
For the first goal Ling is not culpable in any way. He's 1v1 with the 22, he tracks the runner inside, what's he meant to do, say nah mate, have free run in the middle? Ekpiteta has to push out to 7, but he gets sucked in. The worst bit for that though for me is Widdowson defending the far post, that was dreadful.

True. He has become a bit of a plodder, I'm afraid.
