Nostalgia..Orient 3-0 Stockport 1970.

Some nice memories here. Orient had a good side around that time.
In the 1969/70 season, the Os had 2 very fine fullbacks ( seen in this video ) who were good at overlapping. Dennis Rofe and also Mick Jones, who scores a cracking goal, see from around 1.52 after good work from Peter Brabrook. Also a goal later on by the as of then, young Tommy Taylor.
The wonderful manager Jimmy Bloomfield is seen sitting in the dug out. I remember Brabrook as playing on the left wing and Lazarus on the right wing, seems like they might have swapped wings in this game ?

My best nostalgia moments are:

Chelsea at home in the FA Cup - we won 3-2
Bradford away to avoid relegation - we won
Oxford away to go up - we did
Sutton away - we turned it around in the last minute

Magic moments.

Pleased to have been there for all four massive events in our history

Missed Bradford away. Was in John Lewis at the time, spending far too much time in their TV department whilst Mrs dOh tried to drag me away. Didn’t budge until the final score came through. Happy days. Just.

Saturday 28 Apr 1962, at home to Bury, Mal Graham scored both goals in a 2-0 win that sent us up to the old First Division.

I didn’t go Sid. Back in the day didn’t go to see all home games, got to lots though. Never saw us win. Superstition set in so I didn’t go. Strange. I saw some away games and never saw us lose any.

Yes dOh Nut, you have mentioned this before, such shame you missed that game, something to remember for all time.

Hi dOh Nut
Some good Os players in the game on that video. Talk nowadays of Ling and Widdowson trying to do the role of overlapping fullback, well no such problem in those days with Jones and Rofe on either flank and what good play between Brabrook and Jones resulting in that scorcher of a goal by Jones from around 1.52. Be the day when Sam Ling scores a goal as good as Jones did there !

What strikes me is back in the day I took for granted the level we played at. And the quality of players we enjoyed. It was the norm. You think it will be that way forever. Of course it wasn’t, but I then believed league football would last forever. Wrong there too.

Now I assume very little and don’t expect too much.

2-2 draw with vs rugby

I confirmed to myself i was mad about orient
standing on the north terrace in a sleet/snow
storm at -5 celcius watching an early cup round
versus V.S Rugby ,
with my mate freezing my nuts off & to cold to move from my spot to under the main enclosure in the East.

Droyelsdon by comparison was like a summer holiday
😁

The 2-2 draw against VS Rugby was at their ground, went there on a private beer coach.
Remember stopping at a pub on the way which my old mate Mr Wilson called The Plum Of Feathers

Agree with Sid, promotion winning game against Bury.
Also 8-0 win against Crystal Palace in Division Three South match followed by 7-1 the next Saturday against Lovells Athletic in the F A Cup.
15 goals in eight days - magic.
