It was a nightmare being a goalkeeper on the original astroturf pitches, I always bashed my knees and elbows every time I dived for the ball.gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:13 pmYup and so much more goalkeeper friendlyScuba Diver wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 6:53 pmPretty amazing the pitches now.. I remember the first few weeks when PowerLeague changed from Astro to 4G way back in 2010 or thereabouts. We were all cramping up as the surface was a lot slower underfoot and the ball didn't zip around as quick. A few weeks after getting used to it no-one would want to ever go back.
Yup, the only threat now is to my gloves as the surface wrecks the latex. Started using the same brand Brill does (The One Globe Company) as they're well rated online for durability. Much better than the Adidas and Sondico ones I've had previously that's for sure.Lovejoy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:27 pmIt was a nightmare being a goalkeeper on the original astroturf pitches, I always bashed my knees and elbows every time I dived for the ball.gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:13 pmYup and so much more goalkeeper friendlyScuba Diver wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 6:53 pm

I used to play on the 4g pitches in Fairlop before I left the uk, which was in 2006. Great pitches, just had to remember to empty your shoes of the little black pellets before you got home!gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:13 pmYup and so much more goalkeeper friendlyScuba Diver wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 6:53 pmPretty amazing the pitches now..
