Swindon (H) Match / Exiles

There’s something about Swindon that I’ve never liked but I’m buggered if I can put into words exactly what it is.

Doom-laden feeling about today 0-2 being my prediction and a message board meltdown demanding Ross Embleton’s removal by sundown.

Really hope not though.

Saw Orient play there years ago. 5-0 loss. Got slagged off by their fans on the way back to the station. Disliked them ever since.

Widdowson returns but seems like so does the 5-3-2 formation with Happe, Ekpiteta and Coulson all starting :?

On one hand it's brave to go back to a formation the fans hate and that seems to nullify our attacking players if Ross believes it's tactically the best way to stop Swindon.

On the other hand it's running scared of their attack and reducing our own goal threat. We'll see by 5pm which of the two it turns out to be.

I think he is just being very cautious against a good side. Come 5pm we will see if he was right, for now I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

352 is OK if Ling and Widdowson up their game and offer support but I’ve not see too much of that thus far. I’d expect this formation for an away game but at home it’s overly cautious and maybe even cowardly.

You never know, if we don’t concede a stupid goal or two we may sneak a win.

As to be expected, Alabi out of contention today as an attacking option off the bench. Ogie is the defensive cover on the bench today instead of Judd who seems to be going down the pecking order when it comes to chances of being selected for League games this season.

Not feeling overly confident. I'd be content with a draw as long as we scored and looked a decent threat going forward.

That's where I'm at for now too although have to admit don't like the idea of giving the other side our fear / respect. Hope we can do the business, glad to see it'll be Harrold rather than Alabi coming off the bench at least.

Swindon do look very lively, got our hands full today. Getting spicy already some hefty challenges going in.

Marvin looking up for the battle today, Clay already throwing his hands in the air in frustration at lack of options going forward when we get the ball. That's going to be the problem for us.

That is the reason he is not selected
It is wrong to say he not there for any other reason
Injured again? For someone who doesn't play much he picks up knocks like they're going out of fashion :?

Poor goal. Free kick hits the wall, no one reacts, Swindon player hits a curled shot from outside the box bounces in with Brill reacting late as if he didn't see it 0-1

Yup they're quick, physical and skillful too. Time to change the formation Ross, need goals now and we're getting nothing with 5-3-2 imo. Our defence isn't good enough at this level to soak up pressure and shut sides out.

We're not very good, and Ross lined us up far too defensively. The second half we'll attack more in a 4-3-3 formation, but for now Swindon are streets ahead in quality

Been dreadful so far. Don't know why Ross shat himself, but 5 at the back isn't going to work against the better sides.

No pace through the middle or flanks, Brophy not in the game, so no surprise we've been pinned back and done little but defend.

Hope we don't get further behind, can get to half time and change it up.

Good save by Brill to keep us in it, especially after being down a few minutes ago. I do wonder if this may be one season too far for him physically though as it goes on.

We are totally anonymous in central midfield and allowing Swindon to put on a passing exhibition. Angol looks sharp but has absolutely no support.

Typical 5-3-2 performance in a nutshell. Agree Angol looks tricky but he can't do it all himself. Wilkinson in this formation is so ineffective. Harrold would do better with the high balls if all we're going to do is hoof.

Anthony Grant on, we'll soon see what we missed out on (or hopefully not).
