----------Keeley
REG Cooper Beckles Currie
-----Galbraith Clare
Agyei Donley Williams
-------Kelman
Assuming Brown is still out, of course. Cooper has to start because of his aerial presence (at both ends of the pitch)

Re: Team v Stockport
Broadly agree but wouldn’t ply reg at rb. Galbraith and ball in midfield perhaps. Could see Ollie starting but might be better as an impact sub.
Would love Brown to be back and James to start which would set up as:
———— Keeley
James Beckles Cooper Currie
——Galbraith Brown
—————Donely
Ageyi Kelman Williams

Re: Team v Stockport
Who marks at corners and set pieces with no REG or Clare? On Saturday the biggest 4 are Beckles, Cooper, TJ and I guess Brown? They'll get murdered.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 12:25 pm Broadly agree but wouldn’t ply reg at rb. Galbraith and ball in midfield perhaps. Having TJ at full back and stepping inside isn't as key if Ethan is playing in there. And I don't think you can risk both him and Currie starting after so long out.

Re Cooper’s ‘aerial prescience’, he’s not particularly tall, 1.85m , do you feel he jumps better than, say, REG, as height difference between the two is minimal.

I'd give Stockport something to think about and swap Kelman and Agyei over.

Cooper is definitely better than REG in the air, by some way. But REG is far better on the ball, no question. It's a tough one. I could see Richie taking the chance and going with REG because we want to impose ourselves on them and we have to have REG to do that, with Cooper coming on later on to - hopefully - defend a lead and see us over the line.....

Cooper on to shore things up if we’re ahead.
We know we are weak at set pieces, so no silly free kicks and corners and Keeley being more influential if the ball comes in the six yard box.
We played all three centre backs on Saturday and still got done so we have to adjust tactically and keep them out of our box.

At each set piece, it was 4 v 4 - REG and Clare got done.
Beckles didn't get done. Cooper didn't get done.

If O'Neill is fit enough I'd prefer him to Williams. He was only on for a short period on Saturday but made a couple of runs into the box - he defends better too.

Re: Team v Stockport
Correct. My point was we played three central defenders and still got done. Beckles can’t mark them all. To mitigate the risk we have to keep them out the box.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 2:50 pmAt each set piece, it was 4 v 4 - REG and Clare got done.

Long balls not the issue with Beckles in the team. It’s in the six yard box we struggle.

Fevrier had so much space as he didnt have a full back occupying him.
Our best results & form all came from 4 at the back.
If Brown is fit I'd expect Ethan to start there, unless TJ is 100%

Not a big fan of James but if he’s 80% fit
get him out there also Currie has to start ..
It’s a one off winner takes all so let’s take
it to them ..
Hoping Brown is good to go and let’s get
Aygei involved ..

But you’re dropping Cooper - who didn’t get done in the air - and keeping REG - who did get done in the air. That was my point.DrWindy wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 3:19 pmCorrect. Let’s face it, the difference between REG and Cooper is negligible. The result won’t be decided based on which of them plays if we start with a back 4.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 8:45 pmBut you’re dropping Cooper - who didn’t get done in the air - and keeping REG - who did get done in the air. Anyone calling for Cooper to play fullback is full on mental. Would rather Clare play there and he’s looked poo poo their all year

Currie will not be fit for Wednesday, so TJ should play LB and Claire on the right. They got at us too easily on Saturday. Then pick the midfield based on availability - I'd stick Pratley in there if need be.

Beckles & Happe Kept Wooton & Olaofe quuet in the 4-1 win & only Fevrier caused a problem with the cross for the goal they scored.

Re: Team v Stockport
On O’s podcast RW hopes Brown will be fit for Wednesday.
We had to get permission off Oxford for Currie to be on the bench on Saturday. Tend to think Currie probably be on the bench again but
he makes the starting 11.
Good interview with Richie, well done to the podcast boys
