Well done young man.

Is it right that Tommy Johnson (1957/58) was the last Orient player to win this award?

Dunmore scored 22 in 1961/62, but five players scored more incl. Roger Hunt and Brian Clough (Div. 2).

Tommy Johnson scored the majority of goals with his head!
All time top scorer.

Yes, I think this was the season TJ banged in a mere 30 league goals before the new year. Let me say that again in case you missed it first time...about 30 league goals in the old division 1 before the new year! There was then transfer talk about him going to Blackburn. This no doubt disrupted his momentum somewhat but he still ended up with 35 goals before being transferred to Blackburn in February and finally finishing as the leagues top goalscorer with 43 goals. He is among the great strikers of that era and he should be remembered with a 'proper' signage on the south stand.

That's when the average score was 7-5 and teams played a 2-3-5 formation. Im not even sure you can really call it football back then, it was a totally different game.

Just because you weren't around, can't remember him and what's more, you can't talk about him.. Therefore, you have to resort to the rubbish argument that things were different in the old days. (Wasn't everything). The fact of the matter is, despite your ignorance and arrogance, Tommy Johnston is the greatest goalscorer in Leyton Orients history - by far..

Spot on , I saw him quite a few times.
Forget about systems and formations hard powerful good shot in both feet absolutely outstanding in the air and quite quick. A cross free kick corner was and still is the same ,believe me no one fancied marking him then and given training and coaching standards today nobody would now.

Quite right, Tom was certainly no slouch on the ground, but he was devastating in the air.

Maradona mark 1.
Don’t think anyone new why the arm was bandaged.

Apparently he worked down the mines at some time and had an accident, definitely my hero when I first started supporting them as a young lad , another story I heard we were looking for a striker and Les Gore had a chat with Stan Aldous the Os c/h and captain who said sign Johnson so I don’t have to mark him again
