Tricky one to rate today, looking good for so much of that game with slick passing, running, creating chances then threw it all away by switching off and naive defending. Some positives to take though.
Brill - 6 - could he have done better with the goals? A few nervy glove moments
Ling - 7 - looked good at both ends until his injury
Coulson - 5 - looks uncomfortable and all over the place at the end
Ekpiteta - 6 - looked set for a solid 7 but, well, 3 goals against
Brophy - 5 - a tad harsh perhaps but he's not an LB. Get some cover in for Widdowson. Can't go a season with one player in this position.
Clay - 5 - doesn't look right to me. Ponderous going forward and looked shot second half.
Wright - 6 - up for a 7 or 8 with that goal but also faded badly second half
JMD - 5 - lots of effort, some threat but little end product
Dennis - 7 - MOTM, constant threat
Angol - 6 - good pen, tricky feet but sloppy finishing
Wilkinson - 6 - took a battering from Crawley, profligate finishing for his headed chance
Judd - 6 - average
Alabi - 4 - what's the point? Harrold should've come on instead
Gorman - 5 - didn't do much
Fitness levels look poor. Players look shot after 80 minutes, what's going on there?

Yep, need cover for Widdowson. Not fair on Brophy to be shunted back there. I don't think I could even give Alabi 4. Their sub turned the game, our sub turned my stomach!

Happe should play right back when we have injuries. He should play left back anyway and instead of Ling. When playing 4 at the back it’s not a problem. I remember Scotty Cuthbert playing lots of games at full back and was excellent. Happe is a ball player. He would be fine.

Happe at LB is certainly worth thinking about. Brophy just ain’t right for the role

Unfortunately looked good for large spells, but ultimately in the football league, if you switch off, then you pay. Ask
Mansfield.
I told myself I’d lay off Ross today on here but I’m afraid that collapse was almost all down to poor selection, poor in game management and wrong subs.
Brophy can not, and has never, been able to defend. To put him in a back 4, with no third centre back cover, nor a winger to to track back for foolish and showed inexperience.
Brill - 6 - made a couple of saves he’d expect to make, look shaken a couple of times, spilling simple saves.
Brophy - 4 - never really got going attackingly and was targeted defensively, getting caught in behind about a thousand times. The winner came from his lack of effort blocking a cross.
Coulson - 5 - looked a bit weak and shattered tbh
Ekpiteta- 4 - been championing him but looked sh*t today. Got bullied by Palmer and just not good enough.
Ling - 6 - was having an ok game until the injury.
Wright - 7 - ran the first half. Some great balls and an outstanding goal. Tired at the end.
Clay - 7 - similar to Wright. Through himself at everything first half and faded second.
JMD - 6 - won the pen but honestly, we need more from him. I’m a fan but he’s a luxury we need to perform.
Dennis - 8 - our best player. Skilful and has a football brain. No idea why we kept moving him across the front three and made him move centrally when Alabi came on.
Angol - 5 - silky skills aren’t good enough if you are missing easy chances. Good pen.
Wilkinson - 5 - can’t fault the effort but to in and out of games.
Subs:
Judd - 6 - thought he got up to speed well. May have been at fault for a couple of the goals though, will have to watch again.
Alabi - 6 - why? Can’t fault his performance as he did ok, but why did he came on? Was never going to score in a decade of Sunday’s.
Gorman - 3 - can we just get rid? Hasn’t showed up to one game in a year and a half. Don’t think he completed a pass
Ross - 3 - Brophy at LB in the formation was a mistake. Play Ogie, or give him a winger who protects him. We are winning 2-1 and brought in a holding midfielder in the week, why are you not bringing him on for one of 3 tiring forwards and packing midfield? Instead we carry on attacking and then bring on Alabi? Showed our lack of squad depth really but at 2-1 with 20 to go, let’s get a bit tighter, yeah?

Maybe Ross is just getting poor advice from his team

Lots of nonsense being posted on this thread.
Some of the football played today was incredible for this level. I can’t remember getting out of my seat so many times in a game. We clearly need to tighten up at the back but must persist with this way of playing.

Maybe but whoever it is, they’ve got to learn quick. Our defending especially, all season has been incredibly naive.

Apparently we’re bookies favourite for the tidy football trophy this season. Shame about the league.

Ratings harsh in some cases. I thought in parts we played some really good football. But we just need to defend better. Sloppy goals. We should have made more of the chances we got

Have to agree.
I know we lost today but I don't wanna go back to 5-3-2. I'd rather create more chances. In Angol, JMD and Dennis there is some great attacking talent, and if any of them excel could be worth a decent transfer fee.
Of course it leaves us more open at the back, but I don't believe this is insurmountable, but we may need some more signings to do it. Let's not forget the keeper and the back 4/5 were the same ones who were playing a division below, it may be a bit naive to think they all are going to go up a division and replicate the same level of performances.

We’ve got a brand new offensive 4 in Angol, Wilkinson, Dennis and JMD. Give them a few more games together to gel, they’re going to be awesome to watch.

And we shouldn’t be loose at the back. We’ve effectively got 2 covering midfielders in Clay (who I thought was great today and should never have been subbed) and Wright so the formation shouldn’t be an issue defensively...

No cover LB is ridiculous at this level. Either play those youth players or get a signing in. Also think we need some L1 / L2 experience in CB. Coulson has the brain but not sure if the body can keep up.

Amazed to see Alabi come on. We needed a presence and we needed heads lifting. How it wasn't Harrold I will never know.
In contrast I thought the Crawley manager did well today. Made the right changes at the right time.

Agree with this. There have been many Orient sides who play such fluid football as this one and with that front four we look dangerous going forward. Simply failed to clear the ball from a corner for their first two and then switched off for the third, but we bossed the game again and with time we'll find the right balance.
But of course some would rather a moan just because we lost a game.

His subs were booed and greeted with a ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’.

Brophy at LB is absolutely fine at home when the onus is on us to attack.

I thought with Widdowson out, we should have played wing backs.
All i can think with the defending, that we were frightened to give away a penalty and this mentality cost us.
Overall we looked very good, just need to sort out the defence.

Playing a left footed Centre half at right back instead of Sam Ling !

Do Judd is at fault for a couple of goals & gets the same mark as Ling & higher marks than Ekpiteta, Coulson & Brophy

10/10 for quality wumming

Moaner in chief. Some of these ratings are nonsense. Who would be a manager? Some people on here are mad for Ross to fail. Yes, I would have brought on Gorman when we were 2-1 up and I would have brought Harrold on instead of Alabi at that stage in the game. Managers do make mistakes but this team will learn from It. Some of the team will cut it and some of these players may not cut it over the season. Time will tell.
