Looking on the bright side

With play-offs now out of reach and relegation extremely unlikely we now basically have 10 free hits to play. I suppose it’s better than the anxiety of a relegation dog fight or the disappointment of missing out on something on the last day of the season.
It’ll probably mean that Wellens becomes slightly less of a target as well. If he got us into the play offs (or even took us up) he would almost certainly have been snapped up. More chance of keeping him now.

Yeah need to give the players who will be here next season, like Obiero and Perkins, a run in the side

Bit early just yet but yes, agreed in principle - give Sweeney the last 6 games and let him know it’s his final chance.

It seems very unusual to have 10 games to go & nothing to play for, but, yes, far better than a relegation fight.
Not sure it’s quite a free hit, Richie will want to stop the rot, set the tone for next season. But there is absolutely no reason to rush players back from injury.
Of the 12 under contract for next season, there must be a doubt about a significant number of those
Eg Warrington , move on
Galbraith, likely to be sold
Obiero/DJ/Cooper/Sweeney- are they good enough as back ups?
I would like to see more of DJ till end of season as there’s something good there.
That leaves 6 players
3 are injured, Happe OON, James
One is coming back from injury, Clare
That leaves……Abdulai! (And REG)
Let’s build a team around the one player we’ve got right now who is not injured and under contract for next two seasons!!!
Does go to show RW has got his work cut out
Will he be up for yet another rebuilding next season?
ps, forgot about REG, that’s two players we’ve got that are fit, under contract and likely to contribute significantly next season.

Looking on the bright side - I’ve supported The Os since 1968. In that time it’s probably only in about 12 seasons have we had promotion in the sights, all the rest were let’s escape relegation. We have this season with many games to go so I’m happy. And there is still time for a last push for the play offs.

Maybe give Noah Phillips a few games in goal as a test

He's had his chance the past 3 games and also at the start of the season. Not good enough, off to L2 / NL in the summer.
Would like to see Abdulai given CAM until end of the season in place of Donley so he can nail a starting spot down and provided we're mathematically certain of mid-table obscurity get Philips in goal to see if he can be a replacement for Howes as backup GK

I've never seen Noah play so I haven't got a clue on how good he is . Has anybody on here seen him play and what did you think ?

I’d completely forgotten about Howlers. What happened to him?

Sweeney was good enough for 2 out of those 2 1/2 appearances. And Birmingham. It was only Saturday where he was poor, as was the rest of the team.
Abdulai - is he a 10? Looks more like an 8 to me.
