Hearing rumours at the game last night that there is talk of us developing the ASDA site whose lease runs out in 3 years. Anyone else hearing anything similar

I was at the game and started some silly rumours about the Asda lease being up in a few years and us going for it. Doubt it took off though.

It's the obvious one as Waltham Forest have identified that entire retail park to be redeveloped.

So probably a case of people putting two and two together.

I was in that ASDA store only yesterday. That site is definitely big enough for a new stadium along with other facilities

You are WRONG!
Who’s going to pony up the millions required?

Would be a brilliant site for us, hope it happens.
Can’t see to many neighbour complaints, probably less intrusive than what’s currently there.

Anyone thinking that we're getting the ASDA site is off their trolley.

The foot print of Asda is a bit bigger than Brisbane rd, but every little helps!

Hopefully we can rollback to our 70s / 80s position in the 2nd tier.

They’ve said we need one to be competitive in the Championship
Talking is all well and good but doesn’t get a stadium built

It’s not talk!! You don’t wake up one morning and decide you need a new ground and then immediately go iut and build it.
You would be surprised at how much preliminary work has already been undertaken. It’s a very long process, however I’m very confident it will happen.
Staying where we are is not a viable option.

Is not the ASDA store economically viable? With all the new flats being built, does Leyton not require at least one supermarket?

It might and it’d be great
But right now we’re building a new stadium at a site nobody knows being funded to the tune of many millions by a new owner that can’t be named in order to sustain us in a division we’re unlikely to reach

This is the ironic cherry on the ironic cake of this thread really, as the plan for the Retail Park is more (dense) housing, not a football stadium.
