Ratings - Mansfield (H)

I might start going more!

Hard to rate considering Mansfield were awful and looked like they were trying to limit the damage after half hour. We went into a canter second half.

Keeley - 7 - one really good save but relatively quiet
Galbraith - 9.5 - as perfect a performance from a league one player as you’re likely to see.
Happe - 7 - Easy night but did what he had to and lasted 90.
Reg - 7 - was impressed albeit he won’t have an easier night. Looks comfortable with the ball
Currie - 7 - solid

Pratley - 8 - everywhere
Brown - 8 - one of his best games. Broke up play and even scored
Donely - 6 - weirdly probably his worst game in a while. Might be worth a rest Saturday with Ethan playing in the 10.

Williams - 8 - pace a threat. Went in and out of the game but great goal and impressive debut.
Abdulai- 8 - for a CM he ran their defence ragged. Looks class on the ball.
Markandy - 6 - quiet night for him maybe not 100% fit

Subs all 6. Game was over when they came on

Drafted mine right behind yours, looks like we’re pretty much in agreement.

Keeley: 7- What a find this guy has been. Largely untroubled tonight but so much confidence for a young keeper. Commands box consistently well and a good save first half. He’d be amazing to keep next season if we can.

Galbraith: 9- Outstanding performance capped with an outstanding goal, he really is a cut above. Some wonderful touches and bits of skill, it was all a bit too easy out there for him tonight. Amazing to think he plays right back in this team and has this sort of impact.

Happe: 7- Solid, hardly put a foot wrong.
R E-G: 7- See Happe, encouraging start and could be a good signing. Largely untroubled by Mansfield though and harder tests to come.

Currie: 7- Usual, full of energy and effort.

Pratley: 8- Amazing effort for his age and continues to defy it. Broke everything down.
Brown: 8- Taken off because he was on a yellow but his best game in a while in my opinion, looked far more confident.

Markanday: 6- Lively first half, faded quickly second. Not a great deal came off, good player in there but looks still adjusting to the step up. Very lightweight
Donley: 6- Good game but didn’t have as great of an impact tonight. Still linked play very well.

Abdulai: 7- Great effort and athleticism, puts in a real shift. Looks a superb find for this level. Good with the ball too and prepared to take a risk, I like him.
Williams: 7 Good start, great goal. A lot of pace but seemed lacking in confidence a little at times to take on his man. Hopefully will grow as we’ll play him out wide where he wants to be, unlike Bolton were. Really promising.

Subs:

Not a great deal to note but Ball looked tidy and Kelman was brilliant offering a proper outlet, chased everything.

Superb night - been incredibly skeptical about playoff push but with the players we’ve got coming back and how the new additions have settled in so far, I’m starting to change my tune…

Wellens - 10 - perfect team selection and tactics to get back to business after the show on Saturday

We’re going up if we carry on like this. To think that we have Agyei, Ollie O’Neil & Clare to return from injury is nuts.

Mansfield hooking one of the Metallica CBs on 25 mins was hilarious. I think the other one went at half time.

Bit harsh on Donley. On Saturday, he didn’t take any risks. Tonight he was able to and sometimes it didn’t come off. He was still a 7 that first half.

RW has some really difficult decisions to make for Saturday. Great problem to have. Can only pick eleven to start…

Gaibraith was superb and glad now we turned down £1 m because he is worth a substantial lot more.. This team is becoming very special all due to our manager

Getting as good as the team of 13/14. Probably be better than them by the end of the season. Pity about our first four games, why have we taken so long to "get going" in the last two mseasons.

As to MOTM, I'd give it jointly to Galbraith & Brown, both scored (Brown's must have been a training ground set piece) and both worked their socks off.

Really?

A dodgy keeper and a brand new squad. Same answer both times.

Currie was superb, won every single battle and makes it looks easy

Currie has been superb since he arrived. Provides the attacking intent and defensive balance we were lacking early on. Oxford must have a couple of outstanding left backs for him not to be around their first team. Or their manager has made a clanger…

He’s developed.

The Currie we’re seeing now is not the same Currie that first joined us. Thats why they loaned him to us.

I agree Currie has got better but to be fair he’s been very good from game 1.

After watching Galbraith last night I hope we've got an option on his contract. If we haven't and we don't get promoted then He'll be off on a free. rather than million plus he worth.
