Bad day .... But we will carry on

We struggled to put a team out. Cooper looked awful, Stockport were more streetwise, knew how to play a bad ref. Once we get next week's pointless game over and get back to a winning run the better. Up the Os!

I wish we had the Stockport number 9., Olaofe . He's just the type of number 9 we need . Turned our defence inside out. I was pleased when he got substituted.

We didn’t lose because Cooper was a bit dodgy defensively on a few occasions.
We lost because we didn’t compete in the middle of the park with Brown and Pratley and our 4 forward/creative players - Donley especially - were not at it.

I’d much rather have Agyei.
If I was going to take one of their players, I’d ask for the little 4 playing in the middle of the park. A lovely footballer.

It’s odd how you call people out for implying that when Orient win games it’s because the opposition was rubbish but when Orient lose you’re doing a similar thing. Could it not just be that Stockport are a better side than us?

Bit weird.
We were not at it today, nowhere near it. Do you think we were? Not one of our players was more than a 6/10. That’s why we didn’t win.
FWIW, Stockport were a solid enough side, hard working, well drilled, difficult to break down but nowhere near our level footballing wise when we’re on it.

Stockport barely entered our half after the 30th minute. They did well enough to keep us at arms length and were really well organised but we played into their hands. As HA says, if Donley et al had a better collective day at the office, we win that every time. We just didn't stretch them enough, nowhere near enough positive movement, some really static play, lack of runs and a lack of taking the ball on the half turn. Hopefully a week's rest and we'll look fresher against City and maybe benefit from a bit of rotation and/or Agyei back for the Mansfield game.

Yep, that.
Totally understandable that we were a little bit nervy without Omar at the back, that 40 year old Pratley finally hit the wall after playing countless Sat Tues Sat games back to back, that Donley looked ‘leggy’ as a young kid in his first full season playing the same amount of games, and Markandy and Abdulai also looked tired after minimal games prior to coming here.
The lacklustre performance was on us, not them.

I don’t think the issue was nerves it was Cooper couldn’t handle Wooton. Beckles would have had a real battle against him and is probably ten kilos heavier and six inches taller than Cooper. Unfortunately Cooper couldn’t live with him and it unsettled the whole team.
I think credit to Stockport for stopping us playing. Kept our better players away from dangerous areas and shut the flanks down. Decent performance from them. If they can keep their players fit then they will be thereabouts for the run in.

Six inches difference between Cooper and Beckles?

Absolutely. Beckles easy 6’4”. Cooper was dwarfed by Wooton.

As well as the understandable tiredness, there was definitely an element of cockiness after the six goals in the week (understandable with such a young team) and whatever anyone says, one eye was on next Saturday.

So you think Cooper was the same size and wasn’t outmuscled?

I don’t think Omar is half a foot taller than Cooper, no. That’s obviously not the case.

It’s ok to disagree. But you don’t have to try and belittle someone in the process.

And yet, when somebody claims that we won because the opposition were naff you call this out.

This is getting weird now. I’m not CEB and won’t get drawn into one of your never ending feuds.
Anyone who watched the game yesterday would surely agree that we were nowhere near our usual level - for understandable reasons already mentioned above - and that is why we lost the game.
I don’t see what’s controversial about that.

You have previously called me out for suggesting that the reason Orient won a game is because the opposition were naff - your argument being that this sentiment ignores that Orient won because they were good.
This is a fair observation.
And yet you are doing the exact same thing when the result goes the other way. Stockport won because Orient were naff - which ignores the fact that Stockport were just the better team.
You’re a sensible boarder who is usually fair and logical. Your attempts to claim me pointing this out is “weird” and bringing unrelated feuds into it is just an attempt to deflect from what is a fair observation. You know that I’m not trying to force a feud with you.

Stockport definitely figured us out first half. They pressed Brown and Pratley very high, and neither is particularly good on the ball. They also targeted Cooper and Galbraith physically.
Second half they defended well but we could have had at least one penalty on a day where we were under par. If you had a semi decent ref, we probably don't lose.

How long is it since we were awarded a penalty? Spent most of the match hoping we'd be awarded one, seemed the only way we'd get a goal.
