Forbidden fruits.

Post by Beradogs »

Have mixed feelings about Jaime Donley being here. It’s like going out with a beautiful women who you know you will never see again after the one date as she will be off to marry Donald Trump. Are you glass half full or empty. Privilege to see him play or does it just remind you that we will forever be a small club with only glimpses of greatness.

Sorry, are you basically asking would you rather have a one night stand with a stunner or not? No brainer surely.

True but I saw that pass for the second goal last night and haven’t seen anything like that for many a year. Seeing it live was special. Just makes you kind of sad knowing he will be off again after this season and we will, in all likelihood, be back to mid table obscurity. Not just because of him, of course, but because that’s where we are as a club. That’s where we have always been. When I get glimpses of greatness I want more and more!

Or we could look at it as whenever he performs and shines on the biggest stage we can put posts all over social media claiming "He learned that at Orient".

Maybe if we went up Spurs would let us keep him for another year. Same applies to Keeley

The pass for our second goal is the one that will get all the attention, but the way he took the ball and the pass to Abdualai for our third was even better IMO.

Teams will be queueing up to loan Richie their starlets the way we develop players.

Considering we usually end up with loanees more like Dank Demoss, it’s a privilege to have Donley show us how football really can be played

Or better still, players / agents might have us higher on their preferred list of clubs knowing that they will have a chance to develop. 20-22 year olds released might see us as a more attractive proposition to sign for, spend a couple of years here improving before another attempt higher up the pyramid.

Exactly.

Blackburn don’t loan us Markandy and Abdulai don’t sign for us 12 months ago.

I’d imagine if promotion is secured then the possibility of all 4 key loanees remaining for a season in the Championship, at a club they’re really developing at, would increase seismically.

Yep. The quality of loanees we have this season will be in part a result of what we did for Mizouni. Players moving onto better things is ultimately a positive for the club as we'll have shown we're a good place to go if you want to improve.

Not just the loanees like El Miz and Shaq. Also the young signings like Galbraith and ONeill.

And the way we play will also be a massive factor.

Wellens described it really well last week (post Reading game?). These long loanees like Donley have bought in so well to the club that its like they are on 1 year deals. They should be thought of like this - although I'm hoping that Keeley does an El Miz and stays a second season. No chance with Donley as he's grown from a boy to a man in the last 3 months. I didn't think so back then, but he is destined for bigger and better things than we can hope to achieve right now. What it does give me is the hope that having developed a track record of developing talent (tick El Miz and Kelman in that bracket) that we get sent exciting prospects next season. Having seen them play earlier this season, I would not mind a young Arsenal lad joining. They looked good.

I'd rather have the quality for however long we can get them. It'll be tough replacing 5 of them in one go come summer though and puts a lot on RW having to build a new side every season.

I’ve read the first post a few times, and I just don’t see the downside to “going out with” a beautiful woman who you’ll never see again, when it’s measured against “or not getting to do so”

Agreed with all of that, other than the 3 or 4 months it took Donley to get going.

Did he? Don't remember him getting a sniff, other than the long punt he harried the defender out of and got a strike away.

I would say Kelman is playing at his level, the others Miz, Donley and so forth should go on to better things, though Miz hasn't start a game since Rowett took over at Oxford. Currie I think would quite happily sign for Orient just the transfer fee but then even if 200k, that's your left back for the next day

Donley will go on to play in the Premier League at some point, his vision, passing, quality are miles above this league, he is playing a different game at points, sensational player who makes you want to watch football
