watching the news record nos in hospital for flu. Do you need to go to hospital for flu? If elderly is the vaccination not working? Apparently nos increase after Xmas. Are people going to hospital after Xmas & NY so not to spoli it? Why weren't they in hospital on Xmas day? Do patients pick & choose when to go to hospital for flu?

Flu can kill people so doesn't seem unreasonable that some people might end up in hospital.

Amazing, isn’t it? Almost as if there were lots of cosy gatherings of people on Xmas Day where the virus was able to spread, or something.

Read that the uptake numbers for flu vaccination are way down on previous years. Maybe all the scaremongering has worked with the gullible.

Maybe it's just a new extension of Labour policy to kill the olds and they are flocking to the hospitals and infirmarys to save on heating costs. Or something.

I’m reminded of an old saying “ To be old and wise you must first be young and stupid “.

I've been called for flu jags the last 4 years, but this year, apparently, I don't qualify for it. The criteria must have changed, obviously. Perhaps that's got something to do with the lower uptake.

I’ve had a nasty bug throughout the Christmas & New Year period. Possibly the worst I’ve ever felt with a cold/flu (not sure which it was but symptoms felt more like flu). I could easily see how the same illness could hospitalise somebody older so if doesn’t surprise me to see increase in visits early Jan.

But anyone can just go and get one?

On the Beeb website in the last few days it said the take-up of free jabs is 37% of those eligible. I've had mine and because she's younger than me and doesn't get a free one, we paid for flu and Covid jabs for Mrs NES at the local Boots.

I've always shied away from buying a vaccination, not for financial reasons but to allow those judged more in need to get one.

Perhaps I should rethink my position on this.

That said, my point still stands. If oldies aren't called for a jag, maybe that's why there's lower take-up.
