He will be a massive loss for us, if that does happen. He is arguably the best left back/wingback we've had here, possibly ever, and has a huge future in front of him, possibly even Premier league in a few years.

New manager at Oxford , so high possibility we'll lose him. If im wrong, they must have some left back at Oxford if he's keeping Curry out

Last week of August: Jack Currie is loaned to Leyton Orient, with senior left-backs Greg Leigh and Joe Bennett above him in the Oxford United pecking order.

First week of September: Joe Bennett picks up a long-term injury.

Currie had never played above League Two level, so it’s hardly shameful that Oxford felt he wasn’t immediately of Championship quality. But his subsequent 15 starts in League One have confirmed what we suspected: he is excellent defensively, even at a higher level, although his ability to contribute consistently in attack is still a big question mark.

With Bennett still nowhere to be seen, Greg Leigh having to play almost every minute, and Gary Rowett generally appreciating players who excel on the defensive side of the game, we expect Oxford to want to give their new manager a taste of Currie in January.

Don’t think Bennett can be registered due to signing outside the transfer window

No , but he's still very good and will be a huge loss to us .If he's leaving we need to find a replacement left back on loan .

Hopefully the imminent return of Bennett is better news for us than it is Oxford . If possible I would like Jack Currie to stay with us for the rest of the season. That's assuming of course Jack would like to as well .

Jack seems to love it here, but as Currie was rumoured to cost OU £1m be no surprise if Rowett wants to look at him.

You've got to chuck in too, the Oxford director of football who signed him, won't want one of his signings to be appear a waste

Dennis Rofe was a amazing left back, England under 23 international and unlucky not to gain a full England cap. He was a fast, tough-tackling left-back who starred in Orient's 1969–70 Third Division title triumph, missing only one game. He was ever-present in 1970–71. He netted six goals in 172 League appearances for Orient before following Jimmy Bloomfield to Leicester City for £112,000 in August 1972, which made him the most expensive full-back in British football at that time.
Lastly his long term successor Bill Roffey was also a top left back playing 328 games for the Os from1973–1984.

The overestimation of ability that happens on this board is quite astonishing. On one thread we’ve got someone claiming Jack Curry is Premier League quality, on another we’ve got someone claiming that Donley is basically the most important player in the squad.

Rofe was in the first O's team I am old enough to recall, pretty sure he lived fairly close to me (Oakwood Hill, Loughton), or at least had relatives who did, for we saw him out and about a few times. He had terrific pace, no one could push the ball by him and run after it.

Curry has been excellent since he joined us. It will be a real coup if we can keep him for the season.

Certainly as good as we’ve had at left back since Lockwood I reckon.

Bus driver asked me what the score was, as his son played for the O’s.
It was Denis Rofe’s dad.

He lived at Pyrles Green Debden. We were in the same class at Hereward School.
His dad was a bus driver his and his brother Alan was a decent goalkeeper

As if no one has mentioned Charlie Daniels on here? Those 2 seasons under Slade in L1 he was comfortably our best ever left back and then went onto play in the prem… madness

According to Wikipedia, Dennis was born in Epping.
I would love to meet him for a chat and Dennis is one of my all time favourite Leyton Orient players.

In the junior school where we won the league, he was centre forward, I played right back.
He ended up as left back and me as right wing.
Lost touch after he went to Davenant school in Whitechapel.
