Any recommendations? Apart from a few exceptions, it seems predictable, lukewarm stuff to me. Why can they not put on some good foreign-made films to expand the horizons of people?

Looking forward to the final gavin and stacey. I know it's not cool to like it anymore, but I still love it.

Never watched it.
I’m aware of the basic premise, do I need to have watched others to enjoy this one?

Dislike Gavin and Stacey intensly. I hate James Corden, l can't understand how this untalented moron has got to where he has.

The Good Ship Murder Christmas edition has already been on, but I'm sure most can watch on catch-up TV. For those unfamiliar with the series, this is a stunning Channel 5 production. Set on board the Cruise Ship Virtuosa, a dastardly murder is committed every week ( neither the cruise line nor crew seem to find anything unusual about this it would seem and the captain barely raises an eyebrow when informed of the latest murder) Possibly, that's because they have every confidence that the resident cabaret singer, Jack Grayling, will solve the case. Despite the fact that there are generally at least 4 suspects on board with motive for murder, Jack always gets to the truth. Awful, doesn't come close to describing this drivel, but unfortunately, Mrs C is a big fan. Still, if you want a laugh.......

Excellent to see Mrs Brown’s Boys is on
Always belly laugh after belly laugh. Greatest comedy sitcom since Only Fools IMO.
Last of a dying breed in that format since BBC comedy got ruined by the woke. Entertainment genius will always shine through.

It has now become so fashionable to knock Gavin and Stacey…Why do people detest James Corden?
I think it deserves its institution status.

I thought James Corden gave a more restrained performance in Gavin and Stacey and was impressively mature in the latter stages of the drama.

Exactly.
Although, I think it was always ahead of its time in terms of woke. Giving just one example, it's pioneered trans representation in the British media landscape.
Lots of people have underestimated the boomer capacity for minority rights. Eventually their contributors progress may receive the recognition it deserves.
