Shaq & Ruel

Shaq got another goal yesterday. A very good one so I hear. He has got a few goals and made enough of an impact to be involved.
Ruel not so much so far it seems.
Any other summer mover updates?
I’ve not kept tabs on Vigs and Smyth for a while. Weird to watch a player like Smyrh and then not constantly see him in headlines once he’s moved on. Was magic. We have had some magical left sided players over the years. Charlie Daniels used to glide past players inexplicably.

My QPR supporting mate at work reckons Smyth isn't Championship standard . However I think Vigs is doing quite well at Swansea .

H Smith & Drinan back in harness at Swindon, who are struggling in L2.

Moncur now not getting picked for Sarfend.
On the bench yesterday and didn't get brought on.
Reckon he'll be back in January.

Shaq & Ruel 3 goals total
Kelman & Agyei 10 goals total
Food for thought?

I watched Smyth at Loftus Road, he's had a few runs of games where he makes an impact - but yeh I think he'd prefer to play in League 1 because he would absolutely shine. But we wouldn't be able to afford his wages. Could see him going to somewhere like Wrexham. The gap between the two leagues is huge.
I miss Ruel. Love his directness, sometimes you do just need strikes who put their laces through it in and around the box, a good option off the bench. Shaq has big potential, got a bit more to his game than Ruel.

that seems a fair summary to me. Shaq did get sent off for petulance though, and Ruel hasn't been rubbish, just not kicked on thus far

Unfair and not true.
Ruel more than played his part last season in our top half finish.
His first ever season at L1 level resulted in 11 goals, very respectable and definitely’kicked on’ from the prior season where he scored 9 goals in L2 in our promotion winning season.
He has also weighed in with a very healthy number of assists.
I’m not sure why some fans fill the need to knock players who have served us well. Disrespectful.

Just checked, 5 assists last season to add to his 11 goals
So involved in 16 league goals in L1 last season.

Not disrespectful, just don’t get the love in for him. I was disappointed when he left but it was time for him to go. His stats were ok but not the hardest to replace. When I talk about him not kicking on I mean to a 15-20 goal a season player

Some supporters have it in their heads that if someone is termed as a striker they would have to get close to 20 goals every season.

That is exactly what a decent striker should be doing.

My friend who is a Southend season tkt holder said that Moncur showed a bit of class in the first couple of games and then went downhill where he lucky to be on the bench. Reckons he will be sent back in January. Also Maca Bonne is a disaster no goals yet and does nothing for the team.Waste of good money according to my friend.

He was an impact player who had the ego and wage demands of a starter but none of the link-up play or nous to justify a regular spot. It's great to have a Tehoué esque wildcard player to come off the bench for 15-20 mins but not when they want £6k a week.

Re Bonne, 35 goals in 205 games since he left us. Didn't realise it was quite that bad. Granted that a handful of those are Championship level matches, but those are woeful figures.

The question was whether Ruel had ever ‘kicked on’, not if he was worth what Rovers are playing him , or the ‘love in’ for him, if indeed there ever was much of one.
If moving up a league and scoring or assisting in 16 league goals isn’t a high enough bar for some re ‘kicking on’, then all I can say is that that is a hard taskmaster.

It looks like Moncur is finished then . No way he’d now get anywhere near our match day squad. Maybe just release him in January and let him go
