I'd send Alabi to Boco Island. That way we might be able to move him on easier.

Formation is the problem, everyone can see it. Wrong type of chances are being created

Taking into consideration that our last two league games of last season were both 0-0 and in the very last game of last season, we again failed to score in the 1-0 FA trophy final defeat by Fylde. So add the four games this season and it means that in our last 7 games played, we have only scored ONE GOAL !! It would seem that we have a very big problem in scoring goals !!

630 minutes and 1 goal. Clearly problems but I will be at Mansfield Tuesday hoping for the best.

You had me until Alabi. He’s part of the reason we can’t afford, or just won’t, bring in another striker.
The game was calling out for an experienced striker who could come on and do something a bit different. We didn’t have it. The two up front played ok but they look very similar to me.
Both home games we’ve had all the possession and created only a couple of clear cut chances.

A very negative performance against an injury-depleted team who lost both centre half’s during the game.
It’s going to be a long season watching this tripe

Situations were different though for those games though. We set up to be hard to beat at Solihull, the last game was nervy and we only needed a point so why go gung ho and the trophy was after a three week break without a competitive fixture against a team that had been playing that sort of game up til then. This season is clearly more of a concern since we will be playing teams like this week after week and with largely this personnel moving forward. As someone that states the obvious most of the time I thought you'd have seen this.

Really worried for Tuesday. Unless something dramatic happens, we will get ripped a new one up there.

Why didnt we start with 352 and jmd behind the 2 forwards and why not try dennis in place of ling on the wing

Because Ling is the closest thing we have to a wingback.

Stevenage set up not to concede, keeping nine men in defence for most of the game and the ineffectual Kurtis Guthrie on his own up front.
Their game plan was successful and they probably deserved their point.

They got the bodies behind the ball knowing we wouldn't stretch them and the plan worked. Nearly snatched it at the end and the penalty incident needs looking at again too.
We have to beat poor sides like that or we'll be down there with them.

Then we are in trouble. Nothing against him but he is not a wing back.

3412 is a formation I like, and it works, if you have two wing backs. Neither Widdowson or Ling are capable enough to play wing back - they're too limited in the opposition's half. This has been obvious for a long long time and I can't believe we haven't addressed it if we've decided to continue that into this season.

I was watching Ling closely . It's true what people say about him . He can't cross the ball and he passes backwards a lot

Without one or two more signings and an experienced manager , it's going to be a real struggle to stay up this season. To have that much possession and not score against a defence with three teenagers making their debut's is a major concern . Where are our goals going to come from.

I don’t think we’ll go down. We won’t trouble mid table though. All a bit underwhelming.

I don't know so much from what we've seen. Cheltenham weren't great and we just squeezed past them with a bit of a lucky knock down from a punt forward. Battered by Macclesfield who are still in disarray and then couldn't put away an awful Stevenage side.
For all the supposed chances we had (15 shots but most were blocked or off target) I'd only say two were goal opportunities; the Brophy shot first half and whoever had the double shot second half.
Playing the good sides our defence will get a real battering, just hope heads don't go down after those games.

It was a turgid performance, slow to get the ball forward and rarely if ever got in behind them. Only Brophy looked like he could unlock the back four he was great on the ball but as often is the case his final ball/cross was poor.
5-3-2 is killing us we haven't got the personnel to play it and create chances, both Ling and Widowson will make to go forward and turn the ball back or inside because they don't really have an attacking gene between them. We either need to change shape or recruit two experienced wing backs (which we won't) so we need to change shape.
I was also really concerned by Ross Embleton today, seemed more intent in getting involved with the fourth official and opposition bench than anything else. I was all in favour of the continuity of appointing from within but Embleton seems a tad "immature" and I would have preferred Danny Webb, Ross needs to get his act together and concentrate on getting things right on the pitch rather than getting antagonised on the side lines at the slightest little thing.
I would give Ross a dozen games to work things out, he needs to show some guts and change formation and bring in a couple of experienced players before the window shuts or return to the back benches and work under an experience manager.

Ross is a very emotional bloke and often went mental at the officials and opposition bench last season. Agree though, as a manager, players look to you to be the one in control.

Like it or not, I was just stating the fact that in our last 7 competitive games ( not counting pre-season friendly's ) we have scored just one goal in 7 games.
Like it or not
