If we get relegated
How will the board manage to get punters through the gates at £30+ a pop.
There will also be players that have a relegation release clause. I wonder what sort of team we then end up with.

Re: If we get relegated
Bit premature but the glory seekers will leave in droves . We need to do something drastic. Ling needs to go for a start, long overdue.

Re: If we get relegated
Even worse than the team we've currently got and probably minus Richie who will be off to a better club . As for the gate price , well that would need to be reduced or hardly anybody would bother to turn up.

Re: If we get relegated
' If ' we get relegated.... We're nailed on imo, no if about it.
The only way we won't, is if the board sanction bringing in a couple of decent strikers (which they won't).
Most of the current squad will be gone, and a complete rebuild job will have to take place
We have 6 loanees, they'll be gone, several players contracts end in the summer, most, if not all will go, & some of those whose contacts are not ending will have relegation clauses in their contracts, & they'll be gone.
This situation was easy to see, way back in August, because of the terrible summer signings

Re: If we get relegated
That is what I find concerning . If Joe Public could see that coming from out in the street then why couldn't the club .?Qin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:43 pm ' If ' we get relegated.... We're nailed on imo, no if about it.

Re: If we get relegated
Any decent striker is either at a club and playing or is out of our reach now either due to transfer fee, wage demands or both.
We will have to wait and see what happens in January but with our current recruitment and scouting team/person
I am not holding my breath.

I’ll be devastated.
I’ll stick to my guns and say we’ll just about be alright but I’m losing faith a bit more each week

Whatever happens there's a massive squad rebuild on the cards, if you thought this summer was bad wait for the next one

Re: If we get relegated
The reality is that the owners budget as it stands, is appropriate to be be competitive in League 2 team, but not so in League 1. As it stands we are always going to struggle in League 1. From a financial perspective League 2 is a better proposition. Less budget on players and I would expect better gates when we might be winning matches rather than losing them. Less money for owners to throw in the bottomless pit every year. Not sure extra TV reveue, covers the increased costs. The only consideration is that League 1 may offer better bargaining power selling players. If we are going to go down the board would be best to accept it, and try to reap some benefit from selling Agyei and Gailbraith before their value dwindles to nothing. Obviously not a policy that Wellens would appreciate.

After the utter shambles I had the displeasure to watch today I'm going to disagree with you.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:07 pm I’ll be devastated.

A slow, plodding, one paced, poor passing team who are toothless up front.
The tactics and style won't prevail in a relegation dog fight.

I said something similar to this a couple of months back and got absolutely slaughtered on here at the time.Chelmsford Swimmer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:45 pm The reality is that the owners budget as it stands, is appropriate to be be competitive in League 2 team, but not so in League 1. Re: If we get relegated
Great , so the club has no ambition. Richie deserves to be at a better club who will back him in the transfer market better than we've done .Chelmsford Swimmer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:45 pm The reality is that the owners budget as it stands, is appropriate to be be competitive in League 2 team, but not so in League 1.
