Re: Galbraith Contract Extension
At least it gives the club the option to get a decent transfer fee for him in the summer.
Hope he signs a new contract and he stays for longer though.

Re: Galbraith Contract Extension
To sign more players like Perkins and DJ , no thanks . Our recruitment during the Summer wasn't great so I'd rather we kept Ethan . Players like him are hard to get .BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:13 amWe could but a decent fee could get reinvested in the squad.Lifelongfan wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:07 amWe could even keep him for another yearBiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:55 am At least it gives the club the option to get a decent transfer fee for him in the summer.

The reason we sign sh*t is because we don’t have the money to buy better.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:23 amTo sign more players like Perkins and DJ , no thanks . You may want to keep him forever but if a Championship team wants him, he’s gone.

And we still wouldn't have the money to buy better if we sold him .. However I acknowledge that if a Championship club came knocking he would be gone .BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:27 amThe reason we sign sh*t is because we don’t have the money to buy better.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:23 amTo sign more players like Perkins and DJ , no thanks . We have more for higher wages, hence we can get better players who are out of contract or on free transfers.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:30 amAnd we still wouldn't have the money to buy better if we sold him .. Re: Galbraith Contract Extension
How does the "in our favour" bit work? It was mentioned earlier in summer that players had been offered (all hints suggested at Galbraith and Agyei) but neither had signed?
Fully expecting him to be sold in Jan if an offer comes in, Nigel has said we will be selling and frankly there's precious few others that would attract a fee on current form.

Re: Galbraith Contract Extension
We can trigger a year extension automatically without having to negotiate a new deal. I imagine we've offered a new contract so it's extended by more than one year, the incentive for him being a release clause of some sort and a higher wage.

RW said in our favour. we can renew for 1 year in june so no need to sell in januarygshaw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:32 pm How does the "in our favour" bit work? It was mentioned earlier in summer that players had been offered (all hints suggested at Galbraith and Agyei) but neither had signed?

Re: Galbraith Contract Extension
The projected losses may change that equation if a good enough offer comes in though the fee would be better if we've got another year in the bag contract wise. Not that I want him to go at all, one of the few in good form this season.aylesburyos wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 5:41 pmRW said in our favour. we can renew for 1 year in june so no need to sell in januarygshaw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:32 pm How does the "in our favour" bit work? Re: Galbraith Contract Extension
The problem is our position in the league. If we sell players like Ethan how much would relegation cost the club?gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:18 pmThe projected losses may change that equation if a good enough offer comes in though the fee would be better if we've got another year in the bag contract wise. An interesting equation...RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 8:30 am The problem is our position in the league. If we sell players like Ethan how much would relegation cost the club?
You lose a chunk of TV money as L2 has a much smaller share
Will probably lose a fair bit in ST sales and lower attendances
On the flip side...
Player wages are considerably lower
Travis would lose some value in sale of the club but his losses would be lower in the interim
