Thx for everything Nige.

"They (Travis/Teague) are understood to be intent on remaining as shareholders after any deal".
That works for me.

Kent is a minority shareholder already, isnt he? The American involved in that trouble with the European club is our other main shareholder, no?

Yes. And many hundreds of other people are shareholders too. Size matters (in reference to Bergen's point above).

The losses were always going to become untenable and it’s increasingly clear the budget wasn’t keeping up with what was required to progress.

Risk now is there’s no solid interest and those in charge of the purse strings get increasingly reticent to spend so we end up back in League 2

Fair point.
This is an important time for Nigel and the other investors to be transparent and open about the way forward. Rumours and uncertainty is the last thing we need. Lets hope there is a Q&A with the chairman as soon as possible.
COME ON ORIENT!!!!

The key bit there is absence of the world "majority" which was previously the way they wanted to do it. I think a realisation the finances even at L1 level are beyond what NT can fund now and what with KT stepping back following his grandchild arriving it's double whammy.
Maybe the RB Orient idea ain't so crazy after all

The predicted £4 million loss has no doubt prompted this, and who can blame Nigel. He and Kent have bailed us out for a few years now and most fans are extremely grateful but let’s hope he can find someone else to invest.

There was no alternative, which has been patently obvious for some time. We have to give enormous thanks to NT for rescuing the club but need massive new investment to progress. The club are currently in a vacuum , no serious money to buy the quality of players needed to get promoted and sustain that position. Whilst waiting for 5 to 10 years to get a new much higher capacity ground we are likely to stagnate in League 1 at best or be relegated at worst. If we stagnate with no realistic chance of promotion for 5 to 10 years let alone get relegated I believe RW will not be with us for much longer. In addition I believe that home attendances will fall and the club’s finances will deteriorate even further.New major investors are needed immediately to initially provide sufficient funds to bring in the quality of players needed to get to at least the play offs and hopefully promotion in the next couple of years in addition to giving the finance needed to get a new ground as soon as possible.

They’ve always said they’ll stick around until they can’t take us any further and it’s been clear for a while, after talking up how much it’ll cost to be a championship team (and last Jans transfer window), that they have pretty much got there.
Obviously depends on who these investors are but they’ve done us well from where they picked up. Basket case with tons of debt to strong league one outfit with tons of debt (that they reckon they’ll eat).

Another risk is that we’re sold to a maniac and suffer a rather unpleasant bout of Deja-vu

I reckon League 1 finances particularly this season have come as a surprise to the owners, taking a £4 million loss to barely compete is a step too far for them I suspect.
The lack of agreement over the Prem trickle down plus the rather poor value Sky deal leaves very few income streams left to exploit, not much to sell in the playing squad either bar Galbraith who I expect will be sold in Jan if there's an offer. Nowhere else to go really money wise.
They completed the original 6 year plan beyond perhaps even their own expectations and now we're here back on League 1 it's going to take big bucks to move forward or even perhaps stand still.

Listen to the interview with Marshall Taylor on orient outlook. This will explain many things.
There is nothing new in the Sky article.

You think there’s a chance the current owners will sell up to a nutter? Why?

Can't all the crypto-barons on here just put some of their billions in to the club? I'm quite sure nothing will go wrong.

We like to invest in assets that will appreciate in value with long term futures, thank you very much!

Yes, yes but why can't they just write another cheque, a big one.
It's been obvious for some time that the current owners don't have the capital to sustain us at L1 level never mind advancing to the Championship.
What is Barry doing these days? He's considerably richer now than he was back in the day. Can somebody give him a bell on the Whatsapps

No Parry isn't
He's got a way bigger stake than Kent, and yet still people bang on about Kent as if he's the main man.

Other than announcing we've appointed someone to seek the investment, this isn't really news is it? They've been pretty clear this is what they've looking to do for a while.
Good luck finding someone who is willing to underwrite a doubling of losses to give us a play off level budget and isn't a total nutcase. Seems like a hard proposition to sell seeing as we don't own a ground and have a small fanbase compared to most teams in the division.

Is it really feasable that we can obtain a multi billionare to bankroll our future or is that just a pipedream?
