Vent - Let's not kid ourselves

I hate to admit it, but we are seemingly in a bit of bother. I was up at 2am to watch the game, and was dismayed at that performance. Don't be fooled by the victory.

The final straw for me is when Colchester have a free kick twenty yards out. They score. We shortly have a free kick after, and what do we do - we go sideways!

RW makes three subs again at the same time. Shortly after we concede. How many times as he done this and it's had a negative impact. Does he never learn?

Anyone calling for Sweeney and Obiero to play are kidding themselves. Against a really poor Colchester side, I saw nothing to suggest they should be playing.

The attitude just seems wrong. We looked like we were playing for a 1-0 from fifty minutes. Where's the drive to score more? Where's the drive to make the shirt their own?

Nobody prepared to take a risk, take a touch, turn and drive forward. One touch pass back. One touch, pass sideways. Dreadful play which will get us nowhere, and more often than not lands us in trouble.

I am a fan of RW, but come on. Lead by example. Don't get into childish arguments on the pitch with opposition players. There's a reason we keep picking up needless yellow cards. It comes from the top.

I naively thought we'd get a reaction from Saturday, and made the effort. It's a shame most of the team didn't.

Keeley - Nothing to do
Sweeney - One of the better ones tonight, but I can't see it. Miles off Currie. No presence.
Simpson - Supposedly a Championship player? Can't see it.
Cooper - Physical, not much else.
Warrington - Ok, but needs to do more
Pratley - Ok
DJ - Better tonight
Graham - Not fit
Ball - Not a right back, but at least looks to pick a pass
Perkins - Can't get the ball. Glimpses when he finally does.

Kelman - Stop the petty waving to away fans. Grow up
Agyei - Had a go
Brown - Ok
O'Neill - Ok

I'm off to bed, again.....

I stopped reading at the Obeiro comment. He was the best player on the pitch

I agree with it all. Except I think it was a Hemming in goal.

Just seen some extended highlights back and we should have had 4 or 5. Looks like we battered them.

The free kick of ours you mention was 30 yards out and dead central. Unless you’re TJ, there’s no point shooting from there so we had to go wide. It was a sh*t ball from ONeill, of course, but we had to change the angle and cross.

The best player on the pitch? What did he do? That Colchester side were frankly garbage. Obiero should have bossed that midfield if he's as good as you think he is. He did very little. You think he deserves a start in front of Clare, Ball and Galbraith on that performance? Too many players going through the motions, he was one of them. Nobody busting a gut or imposing themselves on the opposition. Best player on the pitch? It was a very low bar.

We didn't batter them, We were rubbish. Take no pleasure in saying it. They were awful, and we were marginally better.

You’re emotional- I get it. But we dominated from start to finish. If you’re gonna pick holes it’s the same as every game, we have all the ball but don’t create enough chances. Bad decisions in the final third or delaying a risky pass.

Obeiro bossed midfield. Ball looked good at RB. Graham had some good moments but looked rusty - almost scored goal of the season though

Put into context that's a side in the bottom half of League 2 and I'd expect also their reserve squad. Nothing to get excited about "bossing" them 1-1

Agree. We should have won 4 or 5 but the opening post is emotional nonsense

I watched the whole game and we certainly didn’t batter them.
We were the better team and had loads of possession but as with other home games, lots of square of backward passing to keep possession but little penetration and few chances being created.
Dan Agyei looked good when he came on and Hemming even saved a penalty. O’Neill is unfortunately a shadow of the player he was last season and looks low on confidence. Graham was unlucky with a pile driver which nearly broke the post but is another who looks a bit low on confidence.

Windy (he's no footballing doctor) the great TV pundit.

TV gives you a very narrow perspective, but I appreciate wherever you live in the world its the best you can do. Much of what you said misses the mark, but you were right about the tale of two free kicks. I'm a super Ritchie fan, 100%, but the fact we don't try to score or consider it a scoring opportunity must be down to his teachings. TJ ain't the only one who can have a go. Shoot man!¬

Unfortunately I actually watched the game in the stadium. We didn't batter them, obtuse to draw conclusions from edited highlights. They looked significantly more up for it in the first 30 or so, after that we dominated, without er "battering" them.
Main takeaways - no one from fringe players made a claim for the shirt as per Wellens ask post Lincoln. Cooper and Simpson confirmed against L2 16th team they are nowhere near required standard, Beckles is in a different class but hopefully that shouldn't be news based on evidence this season. Obiero - was difficult to discern he was playing in 2nd half. Neither Graham nor O''Neill have the commitment to the cause that Theo, who was sitting in the stands, does. Pratley should have have retired some time ago.

Are we talking about the one they played wide to sweeeny on the left that was called back, then went wide right? After the horror tackle on Sweeney on the half way line was played on?

It was miles out.

You’re probably the only person who cares about the EFL trophy.

Yesterday was about giving minutes to players who need them.

Unfortunately, I think you miss the point. It was never about the result. I couldn't give a hoot about the EFL Trophy. It just seemed that the squad didn't either.

I was expecting to see some passion and commitment. Some attacking intent. I saw it as an opportunity for some players to step up and give the Manager something to think about. I think very few did.

No point giving players minutes if they're just going through the motions. If my expectations are 'off', then so be it. Perhaps I hold the club to higher standards than others.

I think I am normally pretty fair, but last night was terrible.

They made some changes, but not as many as us, over half their starting 11 started their last match.
