Donley- whats the verdict?

He's been here long enough to be judged now. I think he's only shown us flashes of what a good player he could be. He is well built and good technically and has gone close to scoring a few times. Spurs fans seem to rate him, i wonder if we should try him as a striker?

As seems to have happened to O'Neill, he already seems to have lost some of his natural flair and confidence. My thought is, are the coaching team coaching this out of both of them.

From what I’ve seen I think he will be a very good player for us this season.
I think RW can develop Jamie very well

I'm not seeing what others see. He's 20 and not cracked it at Spurs - where if you are good enough you are old enough (see Mikey Moore). I hope I'm wrong but he's a rich man's Maguire-Drew. Vision & ability combined with a lack of strength and speed.

Improved over the last couple of games, getting used to playing in a more physical league and probably less time on the ball than he’s used to. As for O’Neill imo lacks pace for a attacking left sided winger/ midfielder but he’s only young and will improve however he does pay more attention to his hair at the moment. At this time I would pick Currie and Donely as a left sided pairing

Donley is 19.

He turns 20 in January.

He won't be a Tottenham player, he's not that level. A decent option for us off the bench but no more than that, when what we really needed was someone to come in and replace Shaq Forde.

Still don’t mean his 20 now

Mind you Shaq took a while to get going last season, same thing could well happen with Donley.
Me Spurs mate had actually heard of him and they believe at Spurs he is a decent prospect.
Re option off the bench , not at that level etc, the same was said about Kane at the time. Not saying JD is going to emulate Kane but it’s very difficult to say for sure who things will progress for him at this point. Personally I think he’s going to do well, you can see there’s a decent player in there.

Forde had already had a season long loan playing Mens football.

Kane was 17 when he was here. There’s no comparison. Donley wont be a Spurs player.

I don't think anyone thought Kane would go on to become the player he did. He was OK, but out of the 3 Spurs loanees we had he was the one who stood out least

That’s because most fans don’t know anything about football.

It's worth a try . Play him as a striker tonight against Colchester and see how he does .

Literally nothing about him suggests he's a striker. Would still give him plenty of game time tonight, however.

I think his best position is behind the front man, but we also have Galbraith there. From what I saw in the last 2 games he will go on to have a good career, but not in the top half of the premier league. He always shows for the ball, makes intelligent movements and runs, but we're too slow getting the ball to him (as we are to anyone else)

We won't know unless we try him there . What's the worse that could happen , he doesn't score . A lot like what we're doing now anyway .

I think he is a very tidy footballer, never Premier League but will have a good career

Harry Kane was perpetually on loan until he was 21 so don't think we should rush to judge. He's not turned out to badly.

DJ, Perkins, The Tottenham keeper on loan, Donley for me are all a waste of budget!!!!

After Kane improved so dramatically when back at Spurs, I would never judge a youngster on loan with us
