Jayesemi was such an odd signing, never up to the standard

If those four are all discarded by RW so quickly, should we infer that none were his choices? He inherited Sweeney and never seems to have rated him.

Then why play sweeney for the first 6/7 games? All the other three were given the nod by Wellens if not then Ling is to blame but I don’t think so.

The other goalie we loaned in who can’t make the bench

Warrington is just starting out with us. He's not going to get cast out yet.
Wellens worked with DJ before so I'd be extremely surprised if he wasn't supportive of him signing. But it is weird how little involvement he's having, which is a shame cause he's technically quite tidy, just not fit enough right now.

No doubt about Perkins though, is there? Someone wanted him on name recognition alone.

Yeh can't understand with Warrington Everton rate him highly but dont know why we spent all that time and wages on the man to be a bench warmer

He's only 20, probably lacking some confidence & hasn't had many minutes. If our coaches are any good they'll improve him.

Club wanted to do this season on the cheap hence the talk of a young squad, bringing academy players through etc. Then we lost the first 4 games and the threat of being out of sight before Christmas meant a swift change of tack and a couple of extra pros came in.

They don’t. They have a responsibility to players they’ve had since kids to make sure they get a good move

I am pretty sure this is due to the rules about how many loanees you can have within the squad on matchday. Sure it was mentioned on the commentary.

The Pratley one is odd, he finished the season reasonably strong, new contract, strange not to have your captain even on the bench

100%, Shaq looked completely useless at this point last year then really picked up around November

That's when he got moved out wide after initially being put to lead the line upfront.

They’re coaches, not miracle workers. Perkins isn’t going to be a L1 player.

Absolute nonsense. Shaq showed his potential in his very first appearance for us. Pipkins has shown us nothing, he’s no better than Edwards last season.

It's bizarre after RW specifically called out the folly of first time loanees we get another of exactly the same type as a summer singing in place of a senior pro. Does anyone believe Perkins would be here if he didn't have the academy connection?

DJ could be a good player for us if he gets himself fit.
