Sad & Scary
Another knife killing today in London & a 17 year old arrested for murder
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/l ... 14241.html
Another man stabbed in the face outside the Home Office. A suspect has I believe been arrested.
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/h ... 14121.html
Similar stories in other towns & cities. A 52 year old man stabbed to death in Centre of Newcastle with a screwdriver & 7 youths 17 or under arrested for murder yesterday afternoon.
Sadly and scarily too many people seem willing to carry knives or other implements and to use them to kill or maime others.
The causes of this may be complex, but it's a sad situation we are in & to think that person next to you may have a weapon and be willing to stab you.
I'm not blaming anyone or any group, I just think it's a sad situation

Re: Sad & Scary
Indeed, surely we have to wait for the evidence to be heard in court and a judge/jury to decide to prove this even happened and wasn't made up

Re: Sad & Scary
No, I don't think anyone is denying there are people who have died as a result of stabbings.
I specifically and deliberately said I was not blaming anyone. All the killings could still be self defence and therefore not a crime, but that is a different issue to the one I raised, namely that it's sad and tragic so many people have died as a result of scary.
Even if it's self defence, it's still scary that so many people have knives or other similar implements that are used in stabbings.
Guilt or innocence is not do etching I have commented on

Re: Sad & Scary
Ok ignore my idea let the killings continue, thing is, we don't vote on it, I believe the house of lords has overturned it,
So isn't that letting killings go on, Countries with the death penalty has unusually low murder rates.
But you're the clever one aren't you

Have you heard of say the USA......it's got the Death Penalty and it's murder rate is.....
Yep proof that the state killing someone works!
That's without the question about what you do when you realise you have convicted an innocent person? Pardon a dead body?
Let's execute you.. we can pardon you later if you were not guilty. Sound fair?
It's sad that some people are so lacking in thought that they think killing someone is so wrong we must kill....sort of defeats your own argument

Re: Sad & Scary
But the reality is chaps..
They just let them out & its not exactly hard labour when they are in there,
DNA is so accurate these days, the percentage of mistakes is non existent,
But for argument sake as people are arguing this point,
If the death penalty brought the murder rate down & it was proven (even though I don't believe it when people say it doesn't deter murder)
Would you be for it then ?

If it was 100% certain the person did it then yes i would agree to bringing it back .Andersonitis wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:07 pmBut the reality is chaps..

Whats incredibly sad is that the families who would want their childrens mudererers to meet the same fate as their deceased loved ones, are spared due to people of the opinion as you.
& then you start a thread about people stabbing ????

Re: Sad & Scary
UNODC intentional homicide victims: intentional homicide victims per 100,000 inhabitants for USA is 5.3 on of highest in Western World. For comparison the UK figure is 1.2Andersonitis wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:16 pm ERM

Evidence contradicts what you say.
Now Russia also had death penalty and it has a figure above USA so once again a high figure

You are a strange character.
I find it sad people are dying so why would I want to support killing even more people by deliberate pre meditated actions intended to kill?

You obviously do not know much about DNA?
There are already cases where people were wrongfully convicted based on DNA.

Re: Sad & Scary
Not really strange at all
I'm just a common guy sick of liberal attidudes that encourage murder,
Thats the sad & scary part
If a guy wants to go on a bender & shoot everyone then shoot himself
No one can stop that, but I believe most crime is done because punishment is not what it should be,
I find you strange also.

Re: Sad & Scary
If you cannot rely on dna then,
Dispose of it & don't use it in the justice system,
I'm not really interested in 1 sensationalised article by a guardian journalist,
Its as accurate as it can be,
Our prisons are full of people claiming "I'm innocent"

The death penalty does not deter murder. It’s been proven countless times. Let’s move on.
