Season Starts Now

A win away to Reading, who have made a decent start to the season gives me hope that at last our season has started.

There are some big clubs in this league this season. Marginal losses against Birmingham, Charlton and Bolton and a win today does make me believe that we can compete with the bigger clubs, we just have to play better against the mediocre clubs and win.

We do have some big games coming up again, Stockport away and Wrexham at home, with Peterbrough inbetween.

We will not win the league or get promoted this season, but we will not get relegated either.

Onwards and upwards.

The recent arrivals of Curry and Ball has made the squad quite a lot stronger . Richie said the squad is now as strong, if not stronger than last season. We've had a bad start to the season but I feel we could now go on to have a decent season .

Agreed I think there’s been some decent additions, RW said he had been talking to Dom Ball for two and a half months to get his signature in RW we trust

Annoying our season can only start mid September every year because Richie has to wait 5 weeks for what he wants

The season started against Bolton where we played well and was 2 goalkeeper mistakes away from beating them or getting a draw at the very least.

Was thinking the same, on one hand you'll have the DoF saying look at the great deals getting two Championship players but on the other hand it means giving away 4-5 games to get a competitive squad. No suprise that once some experience came in today we get a result.

This is nonsense 😃

Currie is 21, hardly experienced. Ball - who is older, if not loaded with experience - only came on for the last 10 mins because Brown was knacketed.

Currie was not perfect, understandably a little rusty, but had a great game. He’s some player.

Ball only had a cameo role but looked quality.

If our financial position means we have to wait 5 games to get players of this calibre in, so be it - they’re worth it.

Currie was only made available by Oxford a couple of days before he signed for us he only joined them from AFC Wombles in the summer and Ball I suspect was looking for another championship club - sometimes being patient and waiting for decisions outside your control is all you can do.

Us 3 points, Stevenage 3 points off the play offs. Hopefully the 4 points between us currently will change by the end of the season and we will be at lest in the playoffs and Stevenage won’t.

Bolton have turned out to be crap. We are the only team they have beaten so I don’t think it’s any kind of barometer to say we were unlucky against a rubbish team like them

If Hemming plays to yesterday’s standard we are top 6. The squad has greatly advanced. So so excited for the rest of the season.

I'd happily settle for just not getting relegated

Great relief, but still 3 points out of 15. Hard games next...hopefully we will grind out points most weeks. Brentfud next...hope we play a strong side and give them a right old game...

Naturally I'm well pleased with yesterday's win but I'm not convinced. We are still finding it so hard to score goals. Wellens is too concentrated on midfield possession, in my opinion.
Mind you this Cannon and Ball you give praise to has given me a lift.
