Great win and only positives.
Hemming. 8. Joint MOM. Bit generous maybe as you could argue a professional should be making those saves but being a keeper is a lonely old existence following a string of errors and he stepped up.
Currie. 7.5. Doesn’t look especially bulky but he hates letting people run past him. Neat and tidy on the ball. Just what we have been missing.
Beccles. 7.5. Great game. Won all his headers and duals.
Happe. 7. See Beccles. A nuisance in the oppos box as well.
James. 7.5. We are a better team with him playing. One of those times when he really fancied it.
Clare. 8. Joint MOM. A revelation in midfield. I called him a journeyman after his recent efforts but today was like a different player. Did he give the ball away once?
Brown. 7.5. Two vital blocks in succession following one Reading attack and worked hard all over the pitch.
Gailbraith. 8. Like the Duracell bunny. Non stop effort for 97 minutes.
Agyei 6.5. Doesn’t look happy playing wide. Ran into a few dead ends and nothing really incisive to threaten Readings goal.
O,Neill. 6. Needs to put on a stone. Was rag dolled in one tackle. Not convinced about him yet.
Kelman 7.5 Nice goal albeit a keeper mistake. Ran himself into the ground.
Subs. Ball 7. Like the look of him. Perkins 5.5. Had a shot rather than going into the corner in the last couple of minutes that sent Wellens potty. Simpson and Graham 6.5
Wellens. 8. Whatever he said and how we set up worked like a dream. We were the far better team first half. More even in the second but we still looked threatening on the break.
Reading. 5. It was all our good work that made them look poor.
Ref. 5. We had 5 bookings for time wasting?

Thanks for the ratings Bera. I feel almost happier with Hemming today than I am with the win ......almost . I don't expect him to be a brick wall but a decent keeper is the foundation of a good team .

Thanks for the ratings, strange how nearly an hour has gone since you posted them and only two replies obviously every one is well happy with the team. This is how it should be when we win

I don’t think the ref deserved a 5 some bookings seemed bizarre. Hemmings made a couple brilliant saves, must give him a chance and RW obviously sees something in him. In RW we trust

Agree, there's no prizes for fair play

Fair ratings. Clare definitely MOTM, given Richie some big selection problems with that performance.
Lots of people being harsh on Agyei. He’s playing a wide left role when out of possession (which requires a lot of running and pressing and tracking, not easy for a big guy) but then hops up top with Kelman when we have the ball and change to a 4-2-2-2. I’m happy with how he played it today.

He made two excellent saves today and probably was the difference for us to win.
Notice their keeper made an error for our goal

Pretty much spot on
I personally would rather see a yoof striker instead of Perkins ( just my opinion of course ).

We don’t have any youth strikers anywhere near good enough.
If we’re playing 2 up top, which looks as if it will mostly be the case, we really need 3 proper players to cover those positions.

Perkins did little to make me think that he would be a good back up for Kelman and/or Agyei .
Can’t remember him getting on the ball much apart that crazy late shot when all we had to do was to keep possession.
Don’t think Richie was too happy about that.

My prediction before the season started was we would bring in a new striker during the January transfer window . Whether that comes true or not , who knows .

With playing 2 up top it does feel we are light a striker, but wonder if that changes if we have graham and theo fit

Be great to have Theo back, but we’re definitely a striker short , imv. I thought DJ could play there but he looks unfit to me. Perkins yet to show anything, but there’s time tbf.

Perkins won’t do anything.
Agree with Adz, it may well be we go back to just the 1 up top when we have some wingers back. In which case, just the 2 options for 1 spot is ok(ish)
