More Loans than Barclays
So now we can’t compete with the likes of Bristol Rovers who signed Forde apparently yesterday. We have made terrific strides over the last few seasons and now the momentum has stopped in fact imo it’s going back to how we got relegated to the NL. WTF is going on. I didn’t think a window could get worse than the last winter but the club seem to be making a really good effort to surpass it. If Dan A gets injured we will really be up sh-t creek without a paddle.

Re: More Loans than Barclays
The biggest impact of our transfer policy of signing loanee kids and freebies is that eventually Wellens will get fed up. As soon as a club who can actually offer him a reasonable transfer budget comes along he’ll leave. And I wouldn’t really blame him.
Losing Wellens will be a bigger blow than losing any of the current playing squad.

Re: More Loans than Barclays
Whilst I do think it important we make good use of the loan market having half your first XI made up of them is far from ideal. Come next summer we'll be needing double figures of signings and the way this one went that's not good.
Seems like our model now is getting players in as cheap as possible and generate profit... for their parent clubs selling them on to the competition who can afford the transfer fees

Re: More Loans than Barclays
Let’s get one thing straight the Orient is our club my club that I support and there is nothing more that I would like than to see us in the championship however having all these loans and cheap options is only going to hurt us in the long run as pointed by other comments and not just mine. If we can’t afford decent league one players let’s delve into league two and perhaps the NL and try to get gems from there because next season we are going to have to fill a complete squad and not just a few positions. Like it or not we are starting to go backwards.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 9:41 am MB continues to excel at making a decent premise fall apart as soon as he starts actually talking and using his football “knowledge”

Monkeyboy, could you point me to a post where you actually support the club?
The comparison between the time under Beelzebub and now is preposterous. Even if you go as far as saying we can't compete with half the teams in this league that does not equate to a rapid decent to non league.

Re: More Loans than Barclays
It seems we cant afford to be a League One club. The loans maybe good value but half of them wont be good enough. I'm slightly worried that the youngsters wont cope well if we end up fighting at the bottom of the table.

Do you remember what they said about Shaq last season?Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 9:27 am So now we can’t compete with the likes of Bristol Rovers who signed Forde apparently yesterday. His salary is why above our top waged player. Bristol Rovers offered Ruel £3k a week higher than our top wage according to Ritchie, I think they are the club he referred to with regard to their goalkeepers, but has also said about Shrewsburys budget having to reduce this season. Ours has increased by over 10%.
So we have to use our budget wisely as ML said and I applaud this approach.

Re: More Loans than Barclays
Maybe we should just accept L1 is punching above our weight, enjoy it while we can.
Perhaps a top 7 club in L2 ain’t too bad if we can build a ‘proper’ team instead of loanee kids.

Not only are you stupid and ignorant but illiterate as well if you actually read what I said or get someone to read it for you, you may then understand what I actually said . Re: More Loans than Barclays
I think we will be in the middle or lower reaches of this division for a fair few seasons.
Not bad enough to go down, but not good enough to get promoted.
A rerun of the 70's, just a division lower, just hope the demise of the 80's doesn't follow on

The insistence on using Young and Kyprianou alongside them with no experience other than Pratley. Just swap the name Kyprianou for Obiero and it's basically the same again.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:36 amWho did we bring in then aside from Coleman and brown?gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:31 amAgree on that, it's more like the KJ January window even down to the soundbites about being a young side lacking experienceRich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:26 am

Re: More Loans than Barclays
Tbf though how much is it actually like that Jackett Jan window? Obviously hindsight is difficult to judge without bias but:
Brown v Warrington - brown had 4 appearances for derby, warrington has over 50 league appearances and very well thought of at a prem club.
Coleman v Donley - Coleman was exclusively from non league. Donley no league experience but very well thought of as spurs.
Ray v Currie - Ray a journeyman clogger currie is a young prospect who Oxford just paid a fee for and Wimbledon fans seem to love
Khan v Perkins - khan was relatively experienced for a youngster. Perkins not so much.
Nouble v Kelman - no point comparing.
So all in all I’d say you could only really say that Khan was better from the crop and overall our recruitment over the summer has been much better.

Re: More Loans than Barclays
The overall theme of "play the youth and a few journeymen as we can't afford to give you anything else". Comparing a January with a summer window isn't a like for like, as Ling was at lengths to tell us after the recent January failure that there were plenty more options in summer. Seemingly not the case this year as we've just been told.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:15 am Tbf though how much is it actually like that Jackett Jan window? Obviously hindsight is difficult to judge without bias but:
We've seen a lot of pros go out the door and only youths arrive in their place. Even Jackett didn't have to deal with two loanee GKs which still seems more ridiculous each time it's written.
Richie has his work cut out to make something of this group, he's got more ability and drive to make it work than Jackett did but let's not pretend he's been given a good hand to work with here.

If you believe that losing to Bolton and Birmingham because of unpredictable goalkeeper errors , competing with the best teams in the league, selling out most weeks, and , compiling one of the most talented squads in recent years ,then yes , we must be going backwardsMonkey Boy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 9:56 amLet’s get one thing straight the Orient is our club my club that I support and there is nothing more that I would like than to see us in the championship however having all these loans and cheap options is only going to hurt us in the long run as pointed by other comments and not just mine.
