XL Bullies
I see that a guy from Lancashire was killed by one of these yesterday. Truly awful, but the silver lining is that it was the owner who was mauled and not some unsuspecting pedestrian just out for a walk. I admit that I find it hard to have a lot of sympathy for people who are stupid enough to have these things pounding around their homes. I know that the government has put restrictions on ownership of this breed but I still see them out and about unmuzzled and in some cases not even on a lead. And it's not just wannabe tough guys who have them, but ordinary looking people. What is wrong with them?

Re: XL Bullies
Never met a dog owner who can give me a sensible reason for owning a pet dog. I can give you plenty for not owning one. Whilst we are on the subject, I also believe that pet dogs should not be allowed to be owned if you live in a city.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 1:10 pmGeneric vitriol towards pet owners is generally a very healthy sign.

I have no ill-feeling toward owners of gerbils, budgies or goldfish - but the owners of vicious animals which regularly kill people, well I don't really class them as pet ownersProposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 1:10 pmGeneric vitriol towards pet owners is generally a very healthy sign.

They are thick . That’s what’s wrong with them.Celtient wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 11:53 am I see that a guy from Lancashire was killed by one of these yesterday. Re: XL Bullies
I just don't get why you would want to own one, they are killing machines, this is not a normal breed of dog that has had a turn they are built like monsters

Re: XL Bullies
Much as I maintain it's a real red flag to be so blanketly anti-dog ownership, do also struggle to understand the appeal of these kind of dogs. They're only being bred because people keep buying them. If you want a dog, there's 1000s of them out there already needing a home, some of them are right big bastards if that's your jam, go and pick one of them up and give them some love. If you're buying a Literal Fighting Dog for a couple of grand off some low level crim on Facebook Marketplace, then you're probably an idiot.

Re: XL Bullies
Two of the softest, gentlest dogs I know are a massive bloody Doberman and a Staffie, both dogs that some people find a bit intimidating and have had a bit of a bad rep. But they're usually lovely dogs. XLs on the other hand always give me the willies. Sure some of them are grand but they do look terrifying.
While we're at it, pugs and toy mixed Labradoodlechiwahcollies etc can f*** off though.

Re: XL Bullies
I'm quite wary of most dogs if they're not small enough to be booted in the air if they go for me. Dogs don't like me generally and the feeling is mutual. I've never met a nasty spaniel though.

Re: XL Bullies
Dunno if it was one of these but was walking down gracechurch street earlier and some geezer (possibly homeless) was bowling it along with the biggest dog I have literally ever seen. Pissing up buildings and dribbling. No muzzle, no lead. Actually terrifying.
