It makes sense to sell him.

Although I think Ekpiteta is a very good player it really makes sense to sell him, particularly if we can squeeze a bit more than the £300,000 offered by Rotherham. He has one year left on his contract so unless he extends it , and unlike Happe there is no sign of him doing that then he will be gone anyway for nothing. Centre half is a position we are well covered in as we will have turley returning from injury and the emerging ogie who I really rate.
In any event the tactics of playing 3 centre halfs will be found out in league 2 where teams don’t just hoof it down the middle but exploit our weakness on the flanks.
I would hope that the money gained would be spent on some decent ball winning creative midfielders which the whole world and their aunt recognizes we need, but seeing as we have probably not spent anywhere near what we got for bonne alone, and still have the £500,000 Koroma cash in hand, I am not holding my breath.
I like Angol and though I’ve not seen anything exiting about Wilkinson yet he obviously is capable of scoring, however if they are getting nil decent service from the flanks or midfield then you could play the likes of shearer up front and they wouldn’t get a sniff.

It won’t be 300,000k now. If we sold him in Jan, with 6 months on his contract, we’ll be lucky to get 75k.

Why will it not be 300,000 now. The window hasn’t closed yet.

Yeah, you’re right, sorry. Get confused about what divisions window is when these days.

@Redcard,
You made some good points there. Especially agree with what you said about Angol and Wilkinson.
Also agree with what you wrote here '' however if they are getting nil decent service from the flanks or midfield then you could play the likes of shearer up front and they wouldn’t get a sniff'' I said much the same a few days ago to a fellow Os supporter. Yes is a bid comes in for Ekpiteta for around £300,000, rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season, might well be better to take it and use it to strengthen other areas of the team especially central midfield.

After the last two games I think his value has dropped a tad. Doesn't look so comfortable right now with the step up to L2, let alone any higher.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave late in the day before the window shuts, especially if Turley recovers by then. If not then definitely off in January.

Sadly, I concur.

Sell him at your peril, 2 off games has no analysis on a player, a good coach can turn him into something more elite.

His value must have dropped by now.

You don't think if he has a wobbly start to the season a buying club wouldn't use that as part of the negotiation? Even if you spot potential anything to drive the price down is fair game, as much as the agent hawking the player around to other clubs to get the best deal
