Today’s Ref …

Can accept a defeat after all I’ve had 50
years of watching Os lose ..
But the ref was probably the worse since
David Cootes v Bournemouth 10 plus years
ago ..
Edward Duckworth surely needed his
namesakes Jacks glasses if wanted to
Ref the game properly..
Was happy to give Charlton every decision,
the Sweeney booking was a joke the art of
a fair tackle/challenge has gone from the
game ..

Tbf he missed a probable red card for us so was poo poo for both teams. Some of the errant corners given and Beckles being fought down to the ground and then given a free kick against him at the end was laughable

Not sure Wellens should be complaining, last week Happe could've easily been sent off and Clare today

Like the OP seen too many defeats over the years to get too upset But……looked at the Sky highlights and Charltons CF elbows Dan Happe in the build up to the goal. The decision that I found strangest was Dan Ageyi being held by Mitchell as he turned him, absolutely obvious but the free kick went against him and he got booked.
Sky/ The EFL / and officials are killing the game.

Agyei booking
Sweeney booking
Blowing up for a foul on Clare near the end for winning a header, only to realise his gaff and award a drop ball.
Charltons first corner were he hit it into the side netting, resulting in another corner being awarded after the ref guessed.
Pretty poor show today ref mate, must do better.

In all my anger at the refs performance
I almost forgot about the aygei booking

How are these officials not being made accountable for there inept performances??
They’re literally messing with professional
peoples careers ..

No probable about it, it was a leg breaker. Awful tackle by Clare that would have gone in the Prem (or a competant league)

Thought the yellow for Clare was correct - was a 50:50 that he just got pipped to.
Same with Sweeney - it was the second leg following through with the scissor kick motion.
The drop ball for the Clare incident was because their bloke went down and he thought there was a head injury.
If anyone really thinks RW was clapping Sweeney for his positioning, I’ve got these digital money coins you can buy for just £50,000 each.

I think I can sell you one of those digital money coins for £5,000 if you think its a yellow

Yes, I think Clare was a bit fortunate not to see Red today, it was a bad tackle, slightly late and I think he was only saved by the fact that it wasn’t “studs up”.
If one one of our players were clattered like that I can only imagine how a certain well known fanzine editor would have reacted.

Yeah, fair enough - when slowed down like that, couldn’t have complained if a red was given.
Didn’t look that bad in real time, I thought contact was on the front of the foot and it was a trip rather than an ankle whacker.

Proper awful watching tbat back. Don’t think he had intent, was a late tackle and some bad luck but f*cking hell, hope their player is alright.

I didn’t see it that way at all. He went full speed into a 50/50 and didn’t get it. Wasn’t malicious and didn’t deny a goal scoring opportunity. Yellow card rightly deserved. No more.

Maliciousness or intent has nothing to do with why it's a red. It's the endangering of an opponent, who was left with a very sore ankle to say the least and at worst a fractured or broken ankle. It was a very bad challenge and reckless, even if "he's not that type of player"

I don’t think it was reckless. I expect as a fan for our players to go for that. Studs weren’t up and he’s missed the ball by 0.1 seconds?
If the lad had some shinpads on he would’ve been fine.
He’s being judged on a slow motion replay but of course he didn’t commit the tackle in slow motion.
Yellow card for me.

If he plays again this season, may be he will.
Some Bolton fan put up a slo - mo of the foul by Happe. Again, didn't look that bad at the time but we were lucky to escape a red then as well.
