What is it with Salford and late goals
Maybe it’s my bias but they seem to have done that a lot in last few weeks. We were basically a few minutes away from winning the league as a loss next week would still see us champions if winning the last game. Now, a loss next week and it could be completely out of our hands. Massive moment for them. So annoying.

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
The Man Utd effect rubbing off on them, also big squad with well rested players to go the distance.
When people say spending big doesn't make a difference... they're wrong.

Nothing to do with Manchester United. Was that a serious suggestion?

Looks like it buys a two point deficit to me.Disoriented wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:14 pm That is what money buys - posturing fools like Teague take note.

Half serious, with the Class of 92 running the place they'll definitely instill that never say die attitude.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:11 pm Nothing to do with Manchester United. Was that a serious suggestion?
But money, mainly money. Had we spent out on a decent combative CM I reckon that would've been worth another 3 points over course of the season at very least in the scrappy games we dropped points at.

I think having that sort of strength in depth certainly helps.gshaw wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:19 pmHalf serious, with the Class of 92 running the place they'll definitely instill that never say die attitude.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:11 pm Nothing to do with Manchester United. Incidentally, on a separate note, we also scored a late goal today, the previous game and two weeks ago and nobody seems to have commented on reasons for that.

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
Have to say the Sutton one was the kind of lucky break you don't normally associate with Orient, all down to the keeper losing the plot if we're being brutally honest.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:21 pmI think having that sort of strength in depth certainly helps.gshaw wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:19 pmHalf serious, with the Class of 92 running the place they'll definitely instill that never say die attitude.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:11 pm Nothing to do with Manchester United. We do have players with a great engine on them such as Bonne, Brophy, Clay etc which makes a difference. The fitness conditioning plays its part there. Just as well given how much we rely on our core players.

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
Good teams have a habit of scoring late and also getting the rub of the green. Man Utd were much the same in season 1998/99.Beradogs wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:03 pm Maybe it’s my bias but they seem to have done that a lot in last few weeks. Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
Whatever happens , whether automatic or via the play offs I fully expect Salford to win promotion this season . Their financial muscle makes them too strong for this league . I would also expect them to go well in League Two as well.

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
I did not quite believe this so I checked the stats for the last 15 minutes.
Salford scored 13 conceded 8.
Solihull 19 and 11
O's 19 and 7
Draw your own conclusions.
Form last 10
Salford w9 d1 l0
O's w7 d2 l1
Solihul w6 d2 l2

And there I was thinking you had changed. You are so wrong and if you saved me an O-nut you can stuff it. Any suggestions as to where?Disoriented wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:14 pm That is what money buys - posturing fools like Teague take note.

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
From the match report it seems Borehamwood were going for the winner and Salford then scored against the run of play.

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
Yep. And as said elsewhere performances don't matter in the last few games. Only results.MrB wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 8:29 pmUnfortunately a wins a winSmendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 8:23 pm From the match report it seems Borehamwood were going for the winner and Salford then scored against the run of play.

Sign of a quality team with excellent togetherness and team spirit and find a way to win...
We see it over again when the man city’s Liverpool’s Arsenal’s etc are losing to an inferior team and find a way to win...
The same could be said of the O’s this season too!

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
In fairness, Boreham Wood's penalty to bring it back to 1-2 was a joke. If that'd been given against us we'd be wild.

Re: What is it with Salford and late goals
Orient win again, and are within a hair's breadth of winning the league, yet some of the bedwetting over a late goal for Salford is a sight to behold.
