My local WMC

I've been a member of the Bethnal Green Working Mans Club for the 48 years since it re opened ( it used to be the Repton boxing club ) us 51 members who are left have voted to sell it but the guy who runs the gay and lesbian club upstairs is proving tough to shift , he's not a member and had an eviction order to leave at midday today , about 200 of his customers turned up today demanding that 'their' club stays and the guy running it flatly refused to leave , us members just want the place sold as we are shareholders , there's nothing going on in the club for us 🤔 the committee are saying they don't know what to do next ☹️ anyone got any ideas how we can get the guy out and get on with selling the place 🤔

They could probably save it if they joined it in the first place.

The if fella upstairs does not live on site, I'd get a metal grille installed across the front door and lock him out.

A more subtle approach might be to wait for the legal process to follow its course. You have already started in that direction, but I'd be finding a way to make him personally liable for his actions.

Ask him to make you an offer to buy it

It's estimated to be worth 3-4 million so I'd probably be in for 60 to 70 grand less tax after any legal fees ect , the guy who runs the shows has an old house worth about a million quid that he rents out and he sleeps in an office in the club, he is also the licencee for upstairs 🤔 allegedly he's made a verbal offer of a million for the club 😂 there's no way us members will change our mind about selling as we all want our bit of the pie 🤔

If there's £3m in the pot then go somewhere decent and hire a proper firm of solicitors. there are solicitors and there are solicitors. Whatever they spend on your behalf, they will recover for you.

What if you close the club for the week butt plug in some really loud speakers and leave some music on? That'll drive them out.

That's why we are selling , 80% of the members are pensioners and the club only opens on a Sunday morning for us ☹️ the guy upstairs even uses the downstairs hall for some of his gigs , he does however contribute to the running of the club and its his money keeping it open , the club featured on ITV news today and there was about 200 gays and lesbians protesting to keep it open ☹️

You might have a tough job now Ron especially as it’s hit the main news. Can’t you get him an alternative venue close by and say pay the rent for a year, at least it will look like you’re trying to help ?
