30 years ago income inequality was much narrower, the currency we were paid for our labour had much greater purchasing power, social mobility was still possible, and you could still expect each successive generation to have better life prospects that the one prior.

Ireland separated from England over a 100 years ago, so not exactly news that they will still be separated in 30 years time
