Separating non-football related content

This is a genuine question to Admin & LSN:
Have we reached a point where blatantly non-football related content should be moved to its own sub-section on this board?
I appreciate that this route hasn’t been taken in the past and I understand why. I also accept that there will be many cases of blurred lines between what is or isn’t football related content. But there are clear examples of where the topic is completely removed from Orient and football.
This is, after all, a Leyton Orient message board. Do people seriously think that having this forum filled various arguments and feuds unrelated to football is a good thing at all? Where people are making outrageous comments or users set up threads to abuse moderators
The most recent unpleasant situation is, quite frankly, disgusting. A message board about Leyton Orient has been taken over by an unpleasant row about a really serious and emotional topic. It’s toxic. And it’s fuelled by the certain individuals who seem to thrive on conflict and are unable to let things go.

It’s the close season and a General Election is on the horizon, hence fewer football-related topics.

Why's it silly, those that are interested in Orient / Football don't have to hunt through all the other crap. What's the down side, no one is denying other topics, just separating it.

A quick look shows stuff from Saturday still on page one, so you can easily see all the football stuff it isn't yet swamped. Some football / orient related threads being then filled with sh*t is more of an issue. Once an entire page is a lovers tiff with two aliases / actual people it's time for them to get a room.

IMHO - this forum should be about LOFC, football and football related matters. Let's keep politics, wars and other non-football stuff off these pages...there are loads of social media places to discuss that stuff e.g. X, Facebook and many more...
Also the O's family is a great thing - we want to keep it together and not divided by non football issues
Admin - what's your view?

This forum would die a death if there was only football content on it.

I can't believe this hasn't been thought of or suggested before. It is indeed disgusting that in recent months the football chat has been spoilt by petty arguments. I admit I have occasionally strayed into non football topics myself, but this place is now unrecognisable from the great place it was in the months before the recent months. Alas, this seems the only solution.
(Except for banning CEB, because he really is the main culprit and should f*** off and join the Spurs forum or join a drawing club or sonething)

This is nonsense. It only takes a few seconds to scroll through the threads and click on one that interests you.
If you want bland generic football only threads then there is an alternative

If you're unable to read the thread titles then it's unlikely you'd be able to read the content either.
A stupid Idea that's stupid each time it resurfaces.

I think we should ban football chat, or at least make it hide on a separate forum. Listening to Monkey Boy raging that we aren’t playing 4-4-2, Sid Bishop talking about how he used to play LB and Hoover Attack pretending he knows the what a 4,6 and 8 do

The REV:- This is a genuine question to Admin & LSN:
Yeah right! One of the Rev's opening posts, a new thread "Did the universe come from nothing?" Then another new : "Is there a purpose to life?" Then there' s the one: " Is it time for a Republic " Then he wondered what happened to us after we died. I could go on ad infinitum, just as he seems to. Probably the most hypocritical posting of the century!
The REV a WUM sans pareil. Bet he has about 20 other aliases. Far too many narcissists on this Board.

Not when you are looking for a thread from a few months back. This is an Orient website and less than half the stuff is football related. No issue with the other stuff, just separate it, so that the website is what it was designed for. What is the downside, no one is saying that non-football threads cant be posted, just not mixed in with all the football stuff.

It’s a fair point regarding my threads about non-football questions. I’d have no issue if they were removed and/or placed in a non-football section.
From memory, none of the non-football threads I started resulted in specific users staring various off shoot threads, some with the specific purpose of abusing moderators, which seems to be the case with the more politically charged threads on here. They also didn’t result in specific users trashing good will threads about positive Orient fan engagement initiatives in order to prolong a personal vendetta. I find it hard to believe that an actual Orient fan would do such a thing. However, somebody who uses an Orient forum as platform to pontificate about random subjects and tell everyone how superior they are …I can see why they would do that.
Do you have any evidence that I have “20 other aliases”? Or indeed any aliases? Throwing out unsubstantiated accusations is something another user likes to do on here…

It's a 4/6, 8 or 10.

We should try it.
The only reason for not trying it that I can see is the admins would need to “police” more than one sub board which might be slightly more bother than having all the nonsense in one place.
I suspect those who are against it are concerned their ramblings on the ‘<insert random subject here> Watch’ threads could be even more easily ignored.

There is literally no reason to separate into 'topics'. You see lots of forums try this and it never works.
A much better idea would be to stream the Boarders.Have four divisions, you can only interact on your divisions Board, MBers can be promoted or relegated at the end of each 'season' based on their Boardin' level.
Seasons could be relatively short periods of time - 1 week/1 month - so as to keep things interesting.

It would be more admin for admins who are already spending quite a bit of their free time doing admin. And once started, I imagine there'd be calls for ever more categories.
