The cult of celebrity
I've never had an Idol. (I fancied Maggie Thatcher in her sexy younger years but that’s different).I've thought some people were pretty cool (oasis in the 90’s) and maybe it would be nice to say hello but I ain't paying to see anybody, queuing for an autograph or selfies, joining fan clubs or crying when one meets an unfortunate end in a flaming inferno. They are just bare bums in the shower after all, like the rest of us humans.Everything I learn about celebrities is against my will, you can’t turn around for some of them plastered all over everywhere. So, have you ever actually had an idol or are you like me who thinks that the very existence of celebrities is a creepy phenomenon. They contribute nothing whatsoever to your well-being and still they're revered like divinity.

Re: The cult of celebrity
I like it when celebrities who think they are something special encounter misfortune and humiliation. Especially when their downfall undermines the adulation they've received from thickos.
Hence why I have posters on the wall of the like of Prince Andrew, Philip Schofield, Amanda Holden and Russel Brand.

Re: The cult of celebrity
Are they revered?
I think not. Maybe by children and simpletons, but surely the rest can see that film stars (say) are just people that entertain others. Arguably the modern equivalent of court-jesters.
