Excellent, that's the CB's sorted then.

Wellens has been excellent for Happe, he's still a bit passive and inconsistent but has come along a lot in the last few years despite the injuries. Good news that.

Of the players offered contracts he was the one we probably most needed to stay. Who's left now - James, Theo and Ruel?

Edit - heavily implied we'll get another renewal announced shortly.

Remember seeing the first game of the 22/23 season and sat right near the dug out. Richie was basically coaching and encouraging Dan individually throughout. Think he sees a lot in him and has improved him whereby before he took over he was at risk of losing the progression he had made into the first team

You’d think that Theo is nailed on to sign. Choosing to be out of contract in the middle of recovering from a long term injury is madness. The only reason he wouldn’t is if we’ve offered him something ridiculous contract wise.

James i honestly can’t see him getting offered anything better anywhere else so it’s probably in his interest to re-sign with us.

Ruel could have interest elsewhere. Wellens has been good for him though plus he’s been at the club since he was a kid. I could see him ending up somewhere like Peterborough on more money.

Ruel is the one we most need to sign (and arguably the least likely).

Happy that Happe is here, though.

His chief forum critic '' G Shaw '' would like...... NOT to see him here next season.

I think he should be pleased with a two year deal in all consideration.

Difficult to type when giggling but “Ruel is the one we most need to sign” - thanks for the laugh 🤓

He can still impove, but I like him as a player and I am happy he has signed a new deal.

Ruel is definitely the one we need to sign

To replace him would cost a fortune

Hard to find a player that covers so much ground in a match, who's so versatile, and scores goals

I'm crossing my fingers

We already have 3 equivalent standard (ish) CBs in the squad. We'd need a 4th but wouldn't prove too much of a stretch.

There's no way we could get a cheap squad player that could cover all 4 forward positions, be happy (ish) not starting every week, and score 10+ goals next season.

Good news getting the CB position sorted, now for a GK and full backs to get that defence settled.

Correct, I'm hoping he doesn't sign and we get two top notch strikers in (with Pigott going the other way)

You won’t get a top notch striker to replace him on his money.

Good news that Happe has signed again . Our CB area now looks very solid . I wish other area's of our squad was as strong.

This is the point , will we be able to move out Pigott half way through his contract . I can imagine us starting the new season with him still at the club

Pigott has no future at the O’s, so they’ve probably advised him to look elsewhere and they’ll end up paying off his remaining contract, or at least part of it as a favour.

Seems like Ruel is a MARMITE sort of player, I like him for all the good points you have mentioned above.
Some like G Shaw take a completely negative view of this young player. IMO. for him to leave the club would be a negative thing thing to happen and not good at all and remember he was also our leading goal scorer !

Moneys too tight to mention for that to happen and losing our young top goal scorer for no transfer fee would be a big blow. Ruel also covers a lot of ground and has a high work rate, Richie is a Ruel fan so the lad must obviously have something about him !

Hope Ruel signs. He definitely brings something different to our forward line and would be a big miss if he left.
Try getting a 23 year old with Ruel’s credentials as a replacement, not easy!
Hard to understand the negative posts about him.

Some people seem to think that if we let Ruel go, we can replace him with another Dan Agyei. If that was the case, everyone would take it. But that's not what would happen.

Exactly and that’s why I’m hoping Ruel signs again
