New Orient Manager?

Post by Hoover Attack »

PT is not a consideration (whether he joins Richie or not). There's no-one else internal (thankfully Richie got rid of McMahon as soon as he could, otherwise he'd be in the frame).

After having to deal with a head-strong, impulsive character for the past 2 years, I can see Lingy reverting back to type and opting for another inexperienced coach who won't cause him as much grief.

Who is out there that fits that bill?

Perhaps Ling may just decide to step back into the role to relive the glory years one last time?

I would have been happy with Matt Harold if he had stayed.

Alex Revell?

I'm guessing the often mentioned Dave Challinor is now out of our reach?

For me, it has to be Horst Hrubesch

Any non-believers on the forum likely need to take a long hard look at themselves, as this is the guy for us.

Until the club confirm it, of course it's only speculation.

But come on - if there was a simple explanation for the manager not being there last night and all was hunky dory, it would have been mentioned/apologies would have been given/jokes would have been made.

The absolute silence says it all.

I'm gutted.

He is moving down to the area this summer and a club would have to pay compensation to release him. I’d be very surprised if Orient went into next season with a new manager

This was just him showing a bit of leg. It's all part of the negotiation, just like him sloping off a week early at the end of the season. Nothing's decided yet.

The 7 years he's been here.

Do you think he has manager potential?

This would be exactly my concern if the worst happens and RW did leave. The club and Ling were backed into a corner where they needed to appoint strong winning personality managers to get us out of trouble and meet the goals of the 6 year plan.

With that achieved mid-table L1 mediocrity seems to be the limit of ambition mixed with developing young players to sell on to limit the losses. That suits the DoF just fine and he'd quite happily go back to a Davis / Embleton / Senda / Fletcher type where he has more control.

No idea, but been assistant to two greats, so I see no reason to write him off as "never a manager" on next to no evidence.
