3rd from bottom

I think that as staying up is all that matters this season, finishing 3rd from bottom after what has happened will be a result for us.

I would happily take that now.

So would I but without one or two additional signings and a new experienced Head Coach, it's going to be a long season .

So would I but this is even more hysterical than anything I’ve ever posted, which is saying something.

It's not . Most boarders on here agree we need another central midfielder and it's my opinion we need a new Head Coach if we want to avoid a relegation battle .

I agree with both of those. And I think we will struggle without them this year. But game 2 is too early to be thinking we are certs for relegation.

I meant after the summer, not after today. We're going to get thumped many number times this season. as long as we stay up, that's all that matters when you get promotion to the higher division. To describe today as a 'shitfest' was over the top in my opinion. It weren't great but not a surprise. it's going to happen away from home so we should get use to it.

Losing 3-0 against a side fancied for relegation is definitely worthy of that label. Doesn't sound like we put up much of a fight either, which is worse.

We offered nothing but give away plenty in all areas
Did you not notice? plenty of other people did
It was a really impressive no show by the whole team

it's going to happen away from home so we should get use to it.

Really ? Well thanks for the advice I’ll save myself a few bob

I don’t mean to be disrespectful but that’s nonsense.

We should not be getting thumped by anyone in the league this season, least of all a team with 12 players yesterday afternoon, in dire financial problems and managed by Sol bloody Campbell.

Whatever you may think of the guy on a personal level he went to Macclesfield last year taking on what many saw as an impossible job and kept them up. He's earnt his stripes and fair play to him.

To say we didn't put up a fight is wrong. We were just not good enough on the day, it happens. Who's to say it just wasn't an off day and we put 2 or 3 past Stevenage next home game and everything will be rosey again. To question the players by saying they didn't fight is way off the mark, the majority of that team won a title 3 months ago, they don't just down tools. We were just outplayed, it happens. Roll on next Saturday 👍

I wasn’t there so can’t comment on the performance really.

However, I thought Cheltenham looked distinctly average at our place (before the sending off as well) and they went and thrashed Scunthorpe 4-1 at home yesterday.

In isolation yesterday was a bad result but I still think at League Two level there’s an element of anyone can beat anyone at the start of the season. We can easily go and thrash Stevenage next weekend.

I’d say the result was a slight worry but as long as yesterday doesn’t happen 6/10 times at the start of the season I think we will be okay.

That being said we need two more players.

I’ve got to say I wouldn’t view a third from bottom finish as a success . The most concerning aspect of yesterday’s performance was Embleton’s Post Match comments that the team didn’t fight and scrap to match Macclesfield. Those qualities were a given under JE and it’s something that Ross must instil quickly.

The performance was as bad as the result.

I can’t recall their keeper making a save of note? Wright had a long range shot from outside the box, Happe won a header from a corner but neither troubled him.

Macclesfield on the other hand had a fair few chances and could arguably have scored more - Brill stood up well for a one on one, Brophy made up 10 yards to stop another free run on goal.

I like the look of Angol and to a lesser extent Wilkinson, but neither of them will fight and scrap like Bonne would have.

Its lovely that we’re bringing in all these flair players but it is looking like we’re missing that little bit of steel throughout the side.

Yes Angol and Wilkinson, two forward players who are being fed scraps at present. Midfield enforcer needed plus more wing play with some decent crosses coming in, yes many been saying that for a long time now. All this talk of 4-4-2 or 5 at the back, OMG, football is not all about rigid formations, its all about fluidity and variation in tactics, e.g yes in the top league and world class players, but Manchester City is a good example, players moving around all time, not in rigid lines and formations !

Two posts down its quoted that's exactly what Ross said "didn't fight and scrap" so...

Disappointing of Ross to criticise the players publicly. Not a desirable trait in any manager whether Interim or Full.
