The Frank Nouble award 2023/24

As we approach the end of the season it’s time to vote for the most useless signing of 2023/24.
Nominations:
1. Joe Piggott - a number 9 who cant, run, can’t head, can’t hold the ball up and can’t score.
2. Sam Howes - a non-league goalie for a League 1 squad. Few calamitous cameos early in the season earning him the nickname Howlers.
3. Khayon Edwards - about as far away from the experienced striker that Wellens wanted as you could get. Feels harsh as it’s not really his fault that he’s not ready for men’s football
4. Daniel Adu-Adjei - see above but possibly even less ready.
5. Max Sanders - glimpses of talent but overall a bit “meh”
6. Jack Simpson - controversial and serving a ban when signed.

In terms of expection vs delivery, its Sanders. A more injury prone Dale Gorman.
Pigott’s signing was disliked by most people. Edwards and Edu-Adjei are young. Howes is a back up. Simpson is just a horrrible fanny.

Probably Piggot. He actually looked alright for the first quarter of the season but he can’t finish, hold the ball up, isn’t good in the air and can’t run. Honestly, a baffling signing.
Not fair on the kids. A reserve keeper is just that.
Sanders is an interesting one because when he’s played he has made a good impact in some games, but he can’t stay fit. Think he’ll do well next season for us

No matter what your views of him, Simpson is not a useless signing in football terms

There’s surely only one winner here, and he’s the one on a fat salary.

This is a no brainer. Pigott is a truly terrible signing, and the most useless number 9 we've had for a long time
I still cant believe Wellens would have anything to do with him coming here, this has Ling written all over it
We cant afford to bring anymore duffers here if we want to do well next season
The 2 youngsters Ling brought in are inexperienced & will improve as they age, the fact that Richie prefers Edwards over Pigott speaks volumes
Simpson looks a decent player to me. Assured with the ball at his feet, good distribution, I hope he signs for next season
Howes is a backup keeper, and only got a couple of games because Brynn was injured. In the last game Howes played for us, against Blackpool, he was decent actually
Pigott is the worst here no doubt

There is only one winner and as he wasn't even part of the squad yesterday, it's seems that Richie has already handed him the trophy and it's sitting on a mantelpiece somewhere with the winner on Boco Island

There's only one winner here, the last minute panic signing that never seemed to fit. The only saving grace is that he narrowly avoids joining the Scowcroft list of 0 goal strikers with a couple of well taken pens plus his one highlight moment that goal on the spin in the box.

I think the unfortunate Lincoln match has had a big effect on our season. Pigott acored in that match but it was obviously not given in the end

Howes hasn't been as bad as you've said . I agree Edwards and Adjei were not ready for man's football but both have at least shown enthusiasm . Sanders has had a rough season with injuries which is just plain unlucky .When fit he's looked a good player. Simpson was a controversial signing but playing wise he looks a decent signing . No, this year it's Pigott all day long.

Scowcroft is actually the worst number 9 I've ever seen pull on an Orient shirt . He was utter dogs hit

Yup we had a spell of absolute shockers upfront
Scowcroft
Parkin
Symes
Took until McGleish came back to break the curse then we've been relatively spoilt since in comparison

Don’t forget Jamie Cureton. Although both he and Symes came after McGleish’s return.

We either sign the players Wellens wants ( within reason ) or we don't bother signing anybody at all . No point signing players he hasn't asked for because it's only a waste of money .

I think that we only took the two PL youngsters because we failed to sign an established striker that Richie really wanted……….I think this has been well documented on here.
I just hope we can find someone to take Pigott off our hands in the summer.

Anybody (old 'uns) remember Gordon Riddick. He was lousy with a capital "L".

''In the last game Howes played for us, against Blackpool, he was decent actually'' He was very good in that match and was one of the reasons that Os came away with a draw, then he was dropped fro the next game being as Brynn was deemed as fit enough to play.

Edwards - He was quite highly rated and the club had been looking at him for a while
