Wellens interview

He didn’t look or sound happy, not just by yesterday’s result but in general. I don’t blame him.

He’s a winner Monkey boy. Probably still thought we would get promoted up to yesterday. All the air has come out of his balloon.

He is rarely happy when we have lost. Even when we win he can be grumpy. He's not one to coat a draw or defeat in "we learnt a lot today". As Beradogs says above, he's a winner and doesn't like coming second.

Good to have somebody at the helm with ambition. You can see how gutted he is and that we’ve missed an opportunity.

Hopefully the positive is that he now knows what he needs (probably did 4 months ago as well) and the DoF listens. Might depend on how well we listen to Richie as to how long he stays for.

He certainly doesn’t want the players to pass backwards or sideways like they do, so why do they do it

A poor Summer transfer window will result in Wellens walking. And I don’t really blame him to be honest.

I have thought for a while that the balance between possession and intent was a bit off. If we can find him a striker then that will change.

If I were him I'd sit them all down in front of the video of the match and point out where they went wrong. Maybe charge them £20 to watch it.

Can see that happening, his comments on sideways and backwards passing is a bit strange? Isn’t he the coach? Surly that’s down to him. Yes he is a winner dogs but he will only stay for so long without getting backed by the board. Think he looked at that game yesterday and his admiration for Peterborough was there to see.

You come across as desperate for him to leave.

I find it very odd.

Because there isn't a forward pass on. They're not doing it for giggles.

It all hinges on what new investment gets brought in, partly for enhancing Wellens' own contract but more importantly (including to him), funding the right kind of acquisitions in the summer and beyond.

Sufficient money has been made available.

If Moncurs L1 wages were being spent on an adequate L1 CAM, if Piggots L1 wages were being spent on an adequate L1 striker, we’d be in the playoffs even with the horrific injuries we’ve had.

It’s about making sure there’s no more wastage with this summers transfer business.

Well the club will need to listen to every word he say's and does its best to get the players he wants without hanging around hoping to save on wages . If we can't match his ambitions ( within reason ) I fear we could lose one of the best managers the club has ever had .

While I agree with you Hoover there is always that gamble element with any signings we make .

In that case we'll need to make sure we have a good Summer transfer window . If we know who we want just get in there quick and try and sign them .

Not true at all, this guy can get us up,he could have done if the club had backed him. He was only asking for one or two players but in true orient style they they failed and buggered it up. If we want to hold on to Wellens then we have to get in early but I personally wouldn’t hold your breath.

Bang on the money with this post, it's a massive summer window coming up that will shape the future of this club. Which direction it goes very much depends on how many of Richie's changes are put in place for the next round of player recruitment.

I can't remember us having too bad a Summer window frankly (two exceptions)

Typical Richie interview, clearly wound up by the defeat but will be back bright eyed & bushy tailed in his next match preview interview.

Also cheered up by the payment he gets for punditing the Pompey - Derby game on Sky.

I understand that he was disappointed yesterday, but on Friday he said that we`ve had a brilliant season.
