Hot cross buns - The downfall of Orient?

Why do we always sign keepers who like extra butter on hot cross buns?

Howler today but tbf to him he’s still young. All young players make mistakes and as a keeper they are amplified. He’s done more good things than bad this season and overall has been pretty solid.

Saying that, wouldn’t mind giving Byrne a few games, and maybe seven Howlers, for experience.

Think Byrne is on loan.

Give Howlers the rest of the season

It’ll be amusing, I suppose.

In all seriousness we may as well. He's our player so some match time will benefit the club whereas Brynn will be going back so not much else left to gain from him at this point.

I’m not really sure what playing a non-league standard goalie will achieve. Howlers is never going to be League 1 level and will certainly have no chance of being first choice at Orient. So playing him for the sake of it just seems a bit mean, not to mention it risks a string of awful results.

As it stands he's our reserve keeper so if he's not able to play 5 dead rubber games then needs to be moved on. Could get Rob Gagliardi back to kick footballs at the #1 in the warmup if that's what the role amounts to.

He’s not suitable for 5 dead rubber games at league 1 level. It would be embarrassing. I have no idea why we signed him in the first place.

The ensuing end of season collapse won’t benefit the club, tho.

He’s here in case Brynn gets injured during a game and to provide an older head to train alongside. That’s all.

Oh for the days of having two keepers who could challenge each other for the #1 spot or at least be a viable deputy for cup games and in case of poor form / injury.

Older head?

He’s 26 years old, and has never played league football before. He actually has much less experience than Brynn.

Said from day one, 5th best keeper in division 2 last year was dodgy. Need a keeper that is NOT on loan and can hold a cross and not be so bad as he has been

Sam Howes was thrown in the deep end early in the season when Brynn got injured and after a few mediocre games he came good in the away game at Blackpool and his good performance helped Os get a hard fought away draw. After that game Brynn came back again after recovering from his injury. Surely nothing much to be lost now by giving Sam Howes and ( if available ) Rhys Byrne, yes if possible give the 2 reserve keepers a few first team end of season games. Same also applies to a few of the younger fringe on-field players.
