With a season ticket cap and a waiting list in place, it would make no financial sense to extend the discount deadline, better for the clubs finances to sell the tickets at full price. Additionally I wouldn't be impressed if I was on the waiting list and they extended the deadline rather than offering me a ticket. I'm sure some supporters got bitten last year not believing they would put a cap in place. Those that wish to renew and ignore the deadline, risk not only their discount, but also the cap being reached.

Create scarcity and you create demand.

It still works for the groups of men that claim to be a family and buy 1 kids ticket between them.

I also know when next season starts. August, not May.
For me its July; I'm off to Edinburgh!

I'm not surprised to see Portsmouth are top considering the season they are having .It's great to see we're third and proves things are going in the right direction both on and off the pitch .

We’d all love this to be true but as O’s attendances are on tickets sold it is nowhere near this percentage over the course of the season.

As an example there were easily 2500+ seats not taken for the recent Port Vale

As a season ticket holder, I assume I'm included in the attendance whether I go or not. Intrigued to know if I release my ticket back, I come off the attendance? And then the attendance goes back up again if my ticket is sold. So in summary the attendance announced is the max attendance minus the number of tickets still available?

Sold, not necessarily sat in.

I’m no pedant but filled, to me, means somebody was physically in a seat. As an example: I fill my fridge up each Monday with food from Asda. It is filled because I’ve purchased actual goods and put them inside.

Does it really matter if it’s on tickets sold?

The club get the money regardless of if someone is there and availability of tickets is still low, regardless of if someone is there

Commercially, I’d say yes. For arguments sake, if there are say 1000 ‘phantoms’ for any given match there is zero further spend in terms of catering, programmes and possibly merch. If those seats were sold and all attended, the club would increase revenue.

Also, for the team, the atmosphere is always better with more people there and I’m sure the players feel more motivated not seeing banks of empty seats. It’s natural for a professional to raise their game with more people watching.

Think you’re clutching a bit. We still get about 7000-7500 actual people on each week. A good crowd in this league and far above what we were getting 10 years ago

Of course it matters. It should be as it's always done, based on people actually in attendance.

The club perceive it as a problem, which is why they're capping Season Ticket sales again.

This is of course true - but attendances are still not as good as the club are publicising.

No doubt that our crowds are far better than 10 years ago, but I’m not sure that moving to a bigger stadium with say a capacity of 15k is a great idea, unless we can improve the HOME support substantially.
It’s valid if we were to make it to the Championship but if we stay in League One………….I’m not sure.

Wouldn't be surprised to find out they count your initial purchase of your season ticket AND the resale via the ticket exchange, making it possible for us to achieve > 100% attendance. :D

Got to boost those metrics for the advertising agencies!

Pretty sure they do, judging from how the published figures correspond with the evidence of the naked eye.

When "attendance" actually means "number of tickets sold", then selling a ticket twice counts twice.

I'm still astonished that so many seem sanguine about how readily the Club will change the meaning of words. Often the same people who applaud the club for its transparency and integrity, and accept everything it says without question.
