Archibald v O'Neil

As we lose Theo, we bring in O'Neil, which was fantastic timing, but who is better?
I believe O'Neil, is much better than Archibald. I realise that might be controversial.
Last season, Archibald was a major factor in our success, but I dont think hes top quality league 1, whereas O'Neil is, even after just a few games.
I dont believe Theo will play for us again, unless O'Neil is injured
I once again re-iterate, this may be controversial, but football is all about opinions, and mine is, that Ollie is much better than Theo
What do others think.........anyone agree with me?

Think the squad can cope with 2 left footed players.

O'Neil is right footed.
I don't see where the controversy would be, he's nearly matched Theo's goals contribution already. But I don't think they are really competing. Wellens normally likes his wingers to cut in, so Theo would be competing with Forde if he stays, or Agyei if he moves out wide right. Graham is more likely to be the direct competition for O'Neil next year.

They are totally different players,Theo is more direct pushes the ball past a player and use speed to get by his man and is one footed. O’Neil is two footed and is less direct and looks more often for the inside pass. O’Neil has played a handful of games and is a young lad,his form will probably dip in and out whereby Theo is a more experienced pro and has been more consistent over the last two seasons even when asked to play wingback. I’m not for one minute saying O’Neil won’t be an excellent acquisition but please cut him a bit of slack as he’s learning his trade. If you watched Forde at the start of the season he wasn’t the player he is now but yesterday was a game to far for him imo,but he’s young and will bounce back, incidentally he is very unusual for a left footed player playing on the right as he often turns inward and hug the touch line to beat his fullback and not cut inside. Also nice to see Ruel seem to be working on his control as yesterday’s pass to O’Neil proved.

A bit too early to make that assessment the same as everyone saying that Moncur is rejuvenated with his present form. (Which of course I hope he is)

I think saying that Theo will “never play for us again” is a bit far.
I do agree that Theo has struggled a little bit with the step up to league 1. It explains why Lincoln were willing to let him go in the first place. However, he’s still a decent player to have in a squad at this level.
O’Neil has been excellent so far. However, I would note that he hasn’t been asked to play a defensive role - something which has been asked of Theo many times, so you can’t really compare directly. I happen to think that Archibald is a much better at the attacking side of the game than the defensive part.
We also have only seen O’Neil play during what has been a positive string of performances by the team as a whole. We might see him under a different light when we’re under the cosh.
Basically, it’s far too soon to make a sensible judgment and either way I see no reason why they can’t both play a role at the club. As I suspect they will for the foreseeable future.

Theo is out for 9 months
Let’s have a bit of empathy please and retire this thread.
Theo has been an incredible player for us and will hopefully play many more games for the O’s.
Taking nothing away from Ollie, who has made a superb start.

Simple answer in a top 3 squad it's both, pushing each other to perform at the top of their game and always having a fresh player on hand.
If we work on the theory that Agyei is now primarily an out and out ST rather than the original Smyth replacement we then need Graham and Forde (or replacement) on the other side
Whether Theo can come back from what looks to be an even worse injury than Graham's is still very much uncertain. Cox never came back from his knee injury so if we get even one of those two back at peak level we'll be lucky.

Agree but Cox did come back didn’t he? He had two bad knee injuries but I think he played for us after both times

Ignoring Forde who I can’t imagine will be back, our top line of
Graham
Ageyi
Archibald
O’Neill
Sotiriou
Is mental. Add some cover and a proper striker and we’ll fly

We may lose Ruel in the summer when he's out of contract, Peterborough are showing an interest and I believe have had people watching him. Ruel is good but IMHO replaceable. Theo is also out of contract but I think will get a new deal to prove his fitness, at least I hope so.
The original post in this thread shows a lack of class IMHO - Theo has 9 tough months ahead of him rather than write him off I think the least we can do is be supportive. I expect him back in the autumn and challenging for a starting place.

Not sure what the aim of this thread is. We can all opine who we think is better, but to what end? And as other people have said, it’s an entirely moot point as Theo’s playing career must be at risk for the foreseeable.

O'Neill is better. Archibald has only got one knee or something.

Theo has to have his knee operation ahead of him and then has to rebuild his fitness so agree with a few others that at this present time, a comparison thread like this is totally inappropriate. No one can forecast a season ahead as to how players form will be. If both players are completely fit and in form at some time in the future, then there will be a place for both players in a Leyton Orient squad. As Monkey Boy says, O'Neil has made a great start but a long way to go yet before he can be fully judged, form fluctuates in all players, especially young ones starting out their EFL career so no putting early pressure on Theo while he is awaiting his knee operation or O'Neil who is so early in his career. Lastly nice to see RW praising Ruel for his performance in last nights game.

It does, but fully agree with this comment

We’re talking about a blokes living here, ffs, the thread is out of order.
A lack of class indeed.

Sadly wasn't anywhere near the player he was before injury and then Beelzebub exiled him to non league and that was that for his EFL career

Given people are actually discussing the topic in a reasonable way, I retract my criticism.
