The competition starts this weekend.

With Orient away at Macclesfield, there are plenty of local games to watch, perhaps
Woodford Town v White Ensign tonight at Harlow's ground or on Saturday
Walthamstow v Sporting Bengal at Wadham Lodge
Clapton v Stowmarket at Aveley FC or
Ilford v Harwich

Or on Sunday
Barkingside v Stansted or
West Essex v Whitton United at Redbridge FC

All fixtures at http://www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/fixtures

Get yourself and kids along to your local club. Your £7 gate money names a huge difference to clubs at this level

You never know, you may get to meet Spen666 in person

Not at minute...it's all a bit of a mystery to do with McBean the shady owner of club.
but they are currently one of FOUR teams sharing at Aveley FC

Nice to see Spen69 starting a sensible thread. Well done, must be the magic of the FA Cup. I hope Orient have a great Cup run this season to bring in some extra dough. Away to Fulham still a very happy memory.

Didn't the very early rounds used to start before the league season?

Anyway, my chance to cheer for West Allotment Celtic.

Also Quorn v Shelwood Colliery. Did Dale Vince take over Beef Mince?

Orient are my local club. Old Spotted Dog is as close with a trek across Wanstead Flats. But I'm not walking to Aveley.

Why would anyone in their right mind want to watch such low level football?
It was diabolical watching Orient in that tin pot league we've just escaped from. These teams are about 10 levels below that.
Can't think of much worse to do in a Saturday afternoon.

Yes. Odd thing about east London teams playing in places that have next to nothing to do with their names.

Clapton playing in Forest Gate and now Aveley
Redbridge playing in Barkingside
Woodford Town playing in Harlow
and of course Stratford United

At least Orient dropped Clapton when they moved.

Woodford Town are moving to Ashton Sports Ground in Woodford this winter. They are temporarily ground sharing with Harlow.

Looking at wikipedia, they have been pretty nomadic. Broxbourne?

The club played at Waltham Forest's Wadham Lodge ground in Walthamstow until 2011, when they moved to Coles Park in Haringey to groundshare with Haringey Borough. In 2016 they moved to the Terence McMillan stadium in Newham before starting a groundshare with Broxbourne at Goff's Lane for the 2017–18 season. The club relocated to the Harlow Arena prior to the 2018–19 season, and are set to move to a new ground in Woodford at Ashton Playing Fields for in 2019

Nothing ironic at all. Even if you lived in Leyton you would travel to Brisbane Re.

Unless people live in a football ground they will travel

Of course many do live at Orient! But to be specific, ironic that travelling by foot is not practical for the local clubs mentioned in my case.

I worked out in the close season that I have seen something in the region of 1350 Os league and cup games in the last 50 years I love the Os and always have since dad took me at the age of five to see my first game, Os games are and always have been the first ones down in my diary in June but I love football at all levels and in my younger years played and then officiated at different levels.

I think like a lot of people born in my era I was brought up watching other clubs when the Os were away from home. Leyton at the Hare and Hounds, Walthamstow Avenue at Green Pond Road, Leytonstone fc at Granleigh Road. Pretty much a great era for non league footbal I still watch between 20/30 games at various levels every season other doing all home and some away games with the Os.

Such a shame that people are so disparaging about the game at lower levels. Some of the best games of football I have witnessed have been on a winters Tuesday evening at the likes of Tilbury, Bury Town, Sudbury etc etc.

Best game I have seen in the FA Cup in last few years was Braintree Town North Ferriby 7 goal thriller after extra time.

Seems they lost to Newcastle Benfield, which suggests I was right that the cup started earlier. Although maybe these qualifying rounds don't count.
